I really dont believe this guy is talked about enough on the demons board.
In the 6 games that he has played he has been terrific.
Tries his heart out and puts his head over the footy.
He totally makes up for his lack of size with his attack at the footy and has fantastic skills.

In his last month of footy he has had 19, 20, 22 and 23 possesion games.
He was fantastic today and id say he was one of our along with miller or cj.

I think him and wona have been the bright spots this year without a doubt. I cant speak highly enough about this kid

Today especially i was impressed as the more experienced players looked out of sorts as they have most of the year whilst he stood up and got a heap of the ball and kicked a good goal

he is a gun:)

Puts his head over it and his body where others don't want to, when you combine that with a great workrate (and nice hands for a little man) you get a good player. We all said get this guy on our list after his dominance at Sandy, thank god the club agreed.

I agree and he looks like he could be a good solid 200 game player, never a super-star but just good player who gives every little bit he's got. He could actually take over from junior as a player that rarely ever plays a bad game for us, always contributes win or loss

Players like CJ or Buckley get talked about because they add pace to our slow side and Garland and co. gives us some good young tall defenders that we haven't had for 10 years. I think the reason he doesn't get talked about so much on here is because he's nothing new for us, tries his arse off like junior, tough at the ball like mclean, same hair-cut as sylvia.

Because Valenti isn't unique within our team, he kind of slips under the radar a bit. Which isn't a bad thing, because if he's going a bit un-noticed then he's going to slip under the guard of other teams who will under-rate him. I'm sure he doesn't care, as long as he's getting a game

A good player no doubt, and deserving of his chance however...

...he is too similar to Moloney, Jones and McLean in terms of size and more importantly, pace (ie. slow). With two of those out, he fits in well, but unless he can improve dramatically I see him as a depth player going forward, rather than a best 22.

You raise a valid point here. Melbourne has a large number of midfielders in a similar mould. I think they may have overdone recruiting the 'chunks' in this area. In saying that, they are all talented footballers.

Valenti is a very good player, a great ball winner and looks to have adapted to AFL level reasonably well in a short time period. I hate to say his pace is an issue, but it is. His evasive skills are very good though, and he can become a starting 22 member in time.

Melbourne have a pretty injury-prone list in any case, so he will have no shortage of opportunities in the future.

built like a brick wall... this kid really is something

More like built like a fire hydrant...

Big fan of this kid, I reckon he will take juniors spot nicely when retirs in a year or two.
I also think he has the potential to become a player in the mould of sam mitchell.

Even in a full team he'd make the 22 as a bench player at the least, IMO he's on par with moloney atm.

I was thinking the same thing or maybe like Harvey, libba or Bell, little blokes with plenty of go.

He could be our own little Nathan Bourke, he needs to remember he's at AFL level not VFL as he gets caught sometimes when he thinks he has more time.

I have a man crush on the little fire hydrant, always gets about 5 tackles aswell so he has good defensive pressure.

So I guess his nickname has been decided.

Yeah, it's really catchy.

Why not call him the garbage can or the washing machine....

If you want to give him a nickname relating to him being solid, how about brick, as in built like a brick shithouse

I like this kid. Hard at it, puts 100% in at all times. Will be a great addition to the 22 in years to come.
