It's up to the him really not the club he said last year was meant to be his last year but it wasn't hope he stays on but I have a feeling he won't.

I think this year was always going to be his last. He knew he wasn't in the 'big' picture and was happy to play the year out as a depth player in case Presti, Clement or Maxwell went down.
Well - what a funny game football is. He is playing what I believe to be career best footy!!!!!
Surely he must consider going around again next year. I hope so.

I believe It'll be like last season. An offer of one season, because of what he has shown this year, as a depth player in the reserves who will help with the development of the youngsters and come in if we've struck by injury in the backline. If he is asked to retire, then it is safe to say that Collingwood believes the likes of Anthony and co are more then ready to handle the AFL workload of '08. Either way, he has been invaluable to this footy club and Ive absolutely loved watching im play the last 7 years. It was good to read how he loves the Magpies.

It'll be a shame to see him go, he has been very good down back. To move forward though, we need to give Brown and Anthony the exposure. Perhaps we could keep Wakes on in a coaching role, he's a gentleman and a thorough professional. 
I certainly hope he stays on next year he has been fabulous this year, has been an integral part of our team. Wonderful Mentor for the young ones, Please Stay Wakes.
I rate him as a good footballer and an awesome mentor but feel that we have enough problems with list management this summer as it is. He might have to retire just to free up space and so that we don't have to delist a youngster who has potential. Same applies to Lonie and maybe even Holland.

Wouldn't suprise me if he decided to retire from Collingwood but remain playing for Williamstown (or our own VFL team if that happens). He seems to be the ultimate clubman who would be happy for someone to take the limelight but remain as an on field defensive coach per se.
