According to SEN, Geelong will let him go as he cannot get enough consistent game time down at Skilled Stadium. I know we have been linked to alot of players, but at least this guy brings something to the table that we severly lack - a small skillful forward that would compliment Eddie Betts pretty nicely.

Thoughts?

No, no, no! He the very definition of the terms 'downhill skier' and 'passenger'. His forte is getting a cheap pass twenty metres out from goal, only to miss.

His accuracy is worse than Russell's (okay, I'm exaggerating a little, but he kicks at 36%)!

Would not even consider him - you'd be hard pressed to find a single Geelong supporter with something good to say about Shannon.

Granted, our list is a fair way behind theirs, but all Byrnes would do is clog up a spot on the list, which I'd much rather use on an 18 year old in the ND.

I respect you as a poster HBF but...

Have you lost your marbles?!?!

No way! He's terribly average!

Heck, Russell isn't better than many...but even he takes the cake when put alongside Brynes.

Rather take a punt on an 18yo late in the draft who wouldn't deliver as much in 2009 but would have the potential to deliver more in the long term.

Going well so far.

You could have at leat made it a poll!

No, is struggling to get a game with a really good club and although he has pace, looks like that type of player who would struggle to have an impact at an average side like Carlton.

Wouldn't mind rookie drafting him....although struggling to get a game? I thought he was a regular. How many has he missed?

54 games over 5 seasons and only 9 games this year. Nope, not a regular.

FWIW I think this would be a travesty, but my mail is that Carlton are preparing to trade Eddie Betts for Shannon Byrnes and a pick.

Cats feel their forward line was too one dimensional in the GF, and with Burns and Stokes too unreliable the cats are keen for another crumbing option.

TIWITA!
