Hopefully we do send a replacement over, as we'd have no batting depth to cover injuries or poor form. They'd have to send a replacement over by Friday though, so they are ready for the third match.

Both Watson and Clarke can open the batting with Haddin, so I'd be sending over a middle order batsman. My preference would be Voges, he has earnt a spot in the team and if he didn't get married he would probably be there anyway.

Another option would be to go for a younger player, and get some experience into them. Quiney would be the obvious choice, or they could be really brave and go for a Tom Cooper. Although that isn't really a chance of happening.

Graham Manou could be sent, and Haddin could play as solely a batsman. Manou is clearly the #2 keeper in Australia, as shown by his selection in the 20/20 WC squad. They could take the view of getting him some experience ahead of the long Ashes tour.

Or they could react to the success of the Pakistani spinners and send over a spinning all-rounder. This option would probably be the worst, as Cameron White would be the obvious pick. Again, the selectors could be super brave and go for Aaron O'Brien, who did have solid form this season. But with D Hussey already in the squad, I can't see this happening.

Unfortunately David Hussey will come into the team for the next match, so hopefully if they send a replacement, they will be there by the third match. I would go for Voges or Manou.

Not real good when he comes out after being selected and tells anyone and everyone that he thought he was right for the SA one-dayers but selectors did not pick him and then calls for a runner in Game 1.

We need someone that values their wicket and North fits that bill. He better play as we pulled him from County cricket, making him carrying the drinks ain't going to help our Ashes campaign.

That's a really good call. If we intend on playing D Hussey and North does not play a game we would be far better off shipping someone like Bob Quiney over there.

I'm guessing they were looking for someone currently playing but I'd much prefer North to be getting acclimatised to English conditions than running drinks in Dubai.

Why was he called back to the Aus squad?

2010 - 7 international one day matches. Ave 31.85, one fifty, sr 69.25

The law of diminishing returns is operating with this player.

He is injured frequently. Since his first match in mid 2008, he has played 26 matches. Injuries are not his fault, but he needs to be sat in State cricket for a year or so with a clear run and stay uninjured or they are wasting the squads time bringing him, then watching him get injured while he never really looks a match-winner when he does play.

If he was called Shaun Bloggs, he would not have been persisted with.

yes. hes proven he can hit a ton.
now lets look at the rest of our line up.
watson can
haddin on his day could but very few and far between
clarke cant
white cant
hussey probably could but comes in a bit late too

id still have marsh over every batsmen except maybe watson at the moment

True but half the dismissalsin ODIs come from similar type of shots. Nature of the game. Marsh's was a soft little "dink" shot.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying I'd like to wait a few more dismissals to judge him completely. ODI is very hit and miss, he could easily make 100 next match and we'd all be back on the wagon.

Still has more runs than Dussey, Smith and Clarke. 3 fails in a row is nothing to what Clarke's done.

Should still be going to the WC, maybe not crack the #1 team but would be a great backup batsman.
