Sheedy?

I have stressed several times that I didn't intend the discussion to be focused on him purely being a candidate as a senior coach. In terms of the Lions that is not going to happen. The role may be Mentor, Senior assistant, director of coaching or maybe something else?.. maybe I should have specified, 'NOT AS SENIOR COACH'. He was always only doing 1-2 years at GWS, we are all aware of the diluted role he has played there as coach. IMO that does not mean he will not be employed elsewhere next year, infact his stock has risen in my view, and a role for him at Melbourne, Brisbane or another struggling club is well within the realms of possibility.

My initial response to this thread was in respects to Sheedy coming to our club in any capacity, be it coach, mentor, marketer, boot studder, score board attendant etc. etc.

I just can't see it happening for reasons previously outlined.

Lukiusmacsimus - just a small point, when you use that bolded, big font, it does feel as though you are raising your voice (a bit like posting in capitals). Not having a go at you at all but maybe just use the regular font all the time.

FWIW, I acknowledge you didn't specifically state "senior coach" and I was kind of following the flow of the conversation rather than responding to your post specifically.

The concept is good, I'm not sure Sheedy would consider another move to Brisbane just to be an overseer and as I said in my earlier post another team at this point in his career would potentially harm his legacy if he were seen to be prostituting himself to anyone with a $.

Of the myriad of problems we currently face is that there is only two people with the qualifications we are looking for that actually resides in the state, one is our former coach and I would find that a bit incestuous at this point if Voss is retained - not so if we get in an outsider (say Adam Simpson) and the other being the great but widely ridiculed Malcolm Blight who is heavily ensconsced at the Suns.

Other great options are Robert Walls - heading overseas to France to live for a bit, David Parkin - won't leave Melbourne, Stan Alves - ditto.

So I'm not sure if it's doable on two fronts, the above and the second being $$$. We tried Wayne Brittain and I don't know what happened but it obviously didn't end well.

Good idea, probably too many reasons why it won't get up.

Haha - yeah I know, I cut and paste my posts into a word pad to write them, I find it easier. Then when I paste them into here, 4 is too small and 5 is LARGE! i think I must get the inital text size lost when I transfer, I am not intending to make it seem like I am trying to write LARGER to make a point, its an annoying glitch I have encounted between one program and bigfooty. Ill avoid it from now on.

Yeah thats fine, I just felt the flow of the convo had well and truely headed down the Blight/ sheedy - figure head/ mentor path, as you only really addressed the senior option I just wanted to clarify I didnt intend it to be only be about him being our next senior coach.

The thread should have been called, "Potential of experienced figure head joining the club next year".. haha.. I am happy some people thought it worthy of discussion.

Really?

I thought Roos was public enemy #1 out at GWS.

Guess I was wrong.

Sorry I was not clear Dylan - Roos said it was likely 'he', being Sheedy, could possibly take up the job as head of GWS acadamy. I used that example to highlight he is effectivly out of work as of round 23 this year, so he may well end up at another club, particually if he is head hunted for role at a club.

Thanks for clearing that up Lukiusmacsimus :thumbsu:
