Shem is released...

I played both footy and League as a kid. I found League significantly easier to play. Mostly because there is less running involved. The skills required to play football are also way more complex. I don't know what it's like as an adult, but from my junior experience, I would imagine the only thing you would have to get used to is the increased body contact, which will come pretty quickly.

After a couple of years playing at Box Hill, Shem will be prepared for rugby league crowds.

He will have to get used to playing in front of 12,000 people.

;)

I disagree. If you think an Australian Rules player would not get touched after 30mins of game time (I'd love that for fantasy scoring) you are kidding yourself.
LOL I grew up in Tonga. Live in Queensland, I know the two sports. Rugby union players are a bunch of unfit ignorant troglodytes (with the exception of the odd winger). The ball is largely irrelevant, and I had to play the sport every single day at lunch time for my school. Fitness not necessary.

I've only played League, but from the look of Union I would have thought it would take quite a high level of fitness. The more open game means you have to quickly get up off the ground a lot, and that takes a lot of energy.

An afl player runs about 24 km a game. A union player about 7.

Fixed your post!
Thank you. I am horrified that I made that mistake. Must've been the late night remembering the lumbering hulks standing in the front row forming a scrum that has become the laughing stock of sports that still have relevant activities in them.
