Shoenmakers

Great game from him tonight, real confidence booster. Had some great drive forward too and clean disposal in conditions where everyone was struggling.

Oh and can someone please change the thread title, 39 pages and his name is still spelt wrong!

Good effort from Shoenmakers tonight. Didn't get beaten in an aerial contest which was great to see.

Of course West Coast weren't able to isolate and target him as skillfully as Geelong or Adelaide so I'm not wholly convinced, but its pleasing to see him improve.

interesting to note that I think he stood off his opponent a bit tonight. he was able to get a running jump at a few contests.

possibly a good example of the lesser used saying "if it's broke, fix it"...

Sam Reid next week and Kosi/Riewoldt the week following, then Mitch Clark. Doesn't get that much easier.

Has had some good performances over Reid - It would be Reid wanting to improve. Hoping they end up on a wing again where shoe excels.

Gibbo takes Roo, so Shoe might be on Kosi

Seems not much to do in the off season, except follow the essendon drug scandal, the Turd legal circus & an obvious favorite of some of the so called Hawks 'supporters', who like to sink the boot into Shoenmakers in any thread possible. I really do feel embarrassed for the ones that do this.
We are the Family Club & Shoey is part of it too, perhaps a bigger part of it than those Hawk 'supporters' that want him gone or think he is no good.
The young bloke knows that it will be very hard for him to not only get into the seniors but to stay there will be even more difficult for him. With him wanting to stay & by all accounts is training like he wants to prove himself, I am optimistic that he can find a place &/or do the required job that Clarko has in mind for him. To me this proves that he is a Hawthorn man & as such should have all of our support as members, supporters, fans & followers.

With the success that we have had recently it is quite embarrassing that some of 'us' have resorted or continued to turn on one of our own. Let it go & have trust that Clarko & Co. have the knowledge to know what to do with Shoey & in what capacity that best suits the HFC, I know I do.

I think it is mental for Schoey and he will be a late bloomer. Also think he needs to play forward a difficult situation given the demand for versatility.

"You're trying to confuse me, correct?"
No, not deliberately anyway.

My mind went to the misspelt banner in the cheersquad a couple of years ago.

Yep, agree....Neitz needs to make this kid his full-time project player, much as Bruce did with Lewy last season!

And Lesson 1 should be: Stop giving away the initiative to your opponent by focussing on where they are & not the ball, particularly when it's in the air!....This can be achieved thru focussed match-simulations time & again thru rote training.

Lesson 2: Back your own judgement/eradicate self-doubt....Stop focussing on what might go wrong as this only leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy....Focus only upon how you can impact the play & improve ball reading via the simple technique of the old-fashioned kick-to-kick, one-on-one game style simulation. Till the kid gets it right & automatized/digested entirely.

Lesson 3: Attack the ball with 100% ferocity/commitment....I.E. Start using that build to hurt opposition players instead of worrying about getting hurt yourself....Tough, as fear is a learnt instinct/gut reaction....He needs to change from a mind-set of self preservation on the field to the hunter!....Neitz needs to get this kid in front of sum iron furnaces over the summer to burnish him some Mettle!

The kid has all the tools, he just needs a 180 degree change in mind-set & direction!....Neitz needs to employ sum Jedi mind-training techniques here in order to change sum bad body language/habits

Top post.

I have doubts.

Good luck Schoey, hope you prove to be a star!

Maybe this is why Shoey is so laid back *? :drunk:
