Should Euthanasia be legalised in Australia?

Im doing a Year 12 Legal Studies assignment on Euthanasia and as part of it, I have to conduct a survey.

Please answer yes and no and give reasons if you can.

Yes, as long as there are rules that prevent people making the decision for sick relatives unable to comprehend the situation, for convenience sake. I can't understand any argument against euthenasia actually.

I hate the expression "dying with dignity" used to justify euthenasia. It carries the implication that anyone who chooses not to exercise euthenasia and to stay alive as long as they can is dying without dignity.
Possibly it should be legalised, but I think there need to be safeguards put in place - otherwise the choice could be made under duress and harrassment from relatives who can see their inheritances being frittered away in medical expenses.
A personal choice - I don't have a problem with that. As long as it is their choice and not someone else's and no-one is pressured into thinking they should "do the right thing" for other people and do it when they don't really want to.

Count me as a Don't Know.

Euthanasia is already practiced in a somewhat subtle & covert way, via strong morphine injections towards the end anyways.

Well we have the very watered down assisted dying bill in Melbourne which may or may not help those that need it now
