When the inevitable court cases emerge and the compensation claims flow should Essendon be allowed to wind up, cover their dues with a new franchise emerging in their place?
The Bombers FC (est 2018)...sure they'll lose the flags (the last 4 were tainted anyway) but the shameful history and culture that has riddled the club for 145 years will die with it.
Desperate times call for desperate measures and it shouldn't be up to the heavy lifters to keep the leggards in the competition
Rangers also has the minor issue of 150m quid in outstanding debt.

No true fan should ever want to see a club fold.
What has happened here is the fault of a few bad people, not everybody in the club and certainly not the club itself which has a long proud history.
We have seen countless corporate 'cheating' that results in ligigation against the directors, not the company as a whole. Yes sometimes this results in the collapse of the company, but usually only in finance/banking companies where they were inflating their financial situation and on shaky ground anyway.
Companies usually don't fold from breaches of the law. The law usually chases the Directors at fault.
A company of larger than Board of Directors and a club is larger than it's staff too.
No true fan should ever want to see a club fold.
