My personal opinion is yes, we should welcome him back, altough it probably wouldn't be appropiate until the coroners inquest is over. A lot of people probably have lost respect for him (i haven't but i feel terribly sorry for that young girl's family) but what do other fans think ?

No way ahouls he be allowed to reurn to the club in a payed position.

Every young player at the club would look up to him for advice and he wouldn't get any respect from the older players.

He can come back to watch his son next season, but that's as close as he should get

I think this discussion is really fruitless as Gary has made it perfectly clear in the past by his lack of commitment that he is not interested in returning to the club in any capacity. I just hope that he does not try to influence his son to take the same attitude towards GFC at draft time.

The idea that Gary Ablett, arguably the greatest player of all time, wouldn't have respect from players like Hocking, Graham, McGrath, Riccardi, etc. is ridiculous. What He did for the club in His day was immeasurable and any current player would love to have someone like Gary giving them advice related to on-field matters.

Whatever trouble Gary may have gotten Himself into off the field shouldn't hinder His ability to fulfill a forward coach type role at the club.

Besides, if He is asked to give advice to younger players, it's not as if He's going to tell them all to follow his example. In fact He is a very good position to give guidance, having experience difficulties in dealing with the spotlight He will be able to tell them what to expect and even what not to do where appropriate.

The Geelong FC should be patient and understanding of Gary's personal problems at the moment, I'm sure that when He can get his life together He'll be more than happy to come back and contribute. And when He does, we should welcome Him with open arms.

A CLUB SHOULD NEVER TURN ITS BACK ON ITS CHAMPIONS - EVER!!

i agree with red rover, gary should be welcomed back at the club. what goes on off field is his business. i think gary would proove very valuable back at the club. geeling struggles to get retired players around the club, having the great man back would be a good thing.

Yes I do. Either one of them will do but both is preferable.
