We all know he was delisted, but should we follow his progress off season to possibly pick him up again in the december draft
He wishes to play for us, and is still going through a hard fitness program to shape up. Looks to have lost a bit already

With Buszan gone, and Polak not necessarily coming to the eagles, and if he does maybe not being ready, leaves Wilson and Wilson alone really.

I reckon we should just have him train with us, and ALSO his current program just to SEE if he's worth it, being traded and delisted has worked 3 times previously!

I've read somewhere that collingwood asked scotty to train with them, but he turned down their offer prefering to train with the eagles. So there's a chance of him getting re-drafted by the eagles.

P.S. EKA, empty your message box, i can't send you any PM's.

just did, but I don't have any? I deleted the 3 in my inbox, none in my sent items, 1 message tracking. All deleted, so you SHOULD be able to now:D
cheers!

And yes Cummings did turn it down, not to train with the Eagles, in the hope of it, we haven't actually asked him to, but i hope we do, he seems committed, I reckon we should watch and see!

Bloody good way to give him a scare, hehehe

Yes, if he responds to this sort of kick up the arse appropriately then he may well be worth re-drafting with #3. Hopefully then his brain will tell him he's in his first year with the club and his performance will skyrocket once more!

(and let's face it, even though he is 27 and a question mark, there's lots of people who would love to see him back)

I was a bit apprehensive about cutting Cummings loose and now it seems like a mistake. If we asked him back would he come back though??

The Eagles should definitely ask Cummo to train with them.

If he works hard and doesn't suffer any more injuries, then I hope he's given another chance.

Troy Wilson is sloppy, inconsistent and a shocking kick for goal.
A fit and confident Scott Cummings is worth ten Wilson's.

I like to see Scotty back, but I think most of this is wishful thinking. I think when the WCE let him go, it was for good. The WC wont waste their draft picks on someone they delisted unless Scotty is still there for the taking with our last draft pick.

I don't think its worth picking him up again. Looking at our list at the moment, we have 4 available spots on our normal list. We have picks #3, #6, #22, #38 and #54 in a draft they say is the best ever. We allready made the mistake not to delist another player so we could use pick #54 and if we pick up Cummings again, we are losing pick #38. Why bother?

There is a 70% chance that we will pick up Polack at #3, provided St Kilda don't snare him. If we don't get him, we'll just go for another highly touted tall in the draft. A few of the alternatives:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Hale
Broadbeach
22/5/84
200 cm
84 kg

Agile and strong-marking forward who is a long kick for goal. Awarded Harrison Medal as best and fairest in division 2 at the AFL National Under 18 titles, representing Tasmania.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Damon White
Perth
16/8/83
192 cm
94 kg

Talented marking forward who represented WA at under 18 level in 2000, but was injured this year. Played senior football in the WAFL.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously we wouldn't use the top picks on them as they aren't really worth that, but if we did miss Polack we could quite easily take one of these at #22. If we missed all three, well then we might be forced to redraft Cummings back.

It will depend if we get Polak in the draft or not. I heard that Cummings has hired a personal fitness trainer, although it makes one wonder, If he did the work during the pre-season and spent more time in the gym during the season, this never would have happened.

Doesn't matter when we take him if we do, he is still going to be taking pick #38's place. We have four spots on our normal list left. We have draft picks #3, #6, #22 and #38 that we can use. If we decide to take back Cummings we won't be able to use pick #38 unless we use it on him and then we will be missing out on a good youngster. They say that this year's draft is possibly the strongest ever with the first 40 all capable of going off in the first 20. Even though this could be a bit exaggerated, if we take Cummings back then we are loosing the chance on drafting some good teenager who will help us for the future. I know which option I would take and Cummings is not it...

Freo have already catergorically stated that they will not pick him up, our strength is now the forwards anyway - and to pick up Cummings sure makes the weekly sausage sizzles alot less enjoyable for all, hasnt he heard of sharing!

Who ate the pies scotty? ;)

Vis, after this draft we CAN delist else someone if we wanted to pick him up. Even if we only got him training with us I think it'd be worth it.

You sure? :o

The real reason Cummings was delisted: They kept running out of sausage rolls on the Wednesday training sessions and with the kids missing out on a feed, it was bad PR for the club.:D

IMO - Nope!

Why waste time/picks on someone who didn't completely dedicate himself the first time - you know, the time when he was paid BIG bucks to train, keep fit and actually look like he wanted to play AFL. (Fitness, to a certain level, can be maintained whilst recovering from an injury).

Scotty - GREAT 'clubman', but not passionate enough IMO. No point making a big song & dance about cutting short his honeymoon, when if he'd done the right thing during the season, he too would have been able to enjoy a nice break with a newly signed contract under his belt.

We need to go for a keen young player, without a reputation or Coleman medal to try & fall back on, one who is ecstatic to be picked by WC and can't wait to get in there and prove himself.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cummings, but for the good of the team, I think they made the right decision.

Also, unless WC are 100% sure they are going to pick him up again, assuming he proves his fitness, it would be wrong of them to let him train with them - why build his hopes up & maybe ruin his chances of getting picked by another club?

If EKA is right and we can delist ppl after the drafting period aswell then i think if Cummings trains with us and looks good and dedicated i think we should definitely pick him up and delist Beeck. I mean cmon, Beeck is 21 and with our list he couldnt get game...that pretty bad. Cuz is only 2 years older yet he's one of the best midfielders in the game, 3 time AA, 100+ games and captain......Beeck has to go.
