You are right there, anyone who watched the Cats in Sydney last week would have prayed that Hawkins plays against us.

He was hobbling around all night with the foot injury that some medical experts have said could ruin his career.

He has never been quick, he has a great reach, but pace has never been his greatest asset.

Presti will smash him, when he plays on him.

Hawkins is pretty slow, and if he plays in the 50m arc, Presti will smash him. His strength is his leading up the middle of the ground and providing a link between defence and attack. He is also very very good below his knees and in contested situations. Hopefully he isn't stuck in the forward 50 because as I said, Presti, who I rate higher than Lake, would kill him.

I think where we have succeeded against you in the past few games is with our medium and small forwards. Mooney will kick his 2 or 3 as he always does, but from memory Sunscreen Stevie and Matty Stokes have done quite well against your defence.

Perhaps a late change, Pods in. Cats by 2 goals.

They have gone very small forward. Hawkins or Ottens rucking and playing forward but they will also need some time on the pine, leaving a ruckman and only 1 tall forward in Mooney who Presti will own.

We may be a bit tall down back. Presti & Reid will take the 2 talls. (no resting ruckman)

Could Goldy go with Chapman all game? Chapman has been playing more outside this year, not that he can't play inside, and then drifts forward at times. Would be a good challenge for him.

Caff gets the negating role on Enright. Anyone who saw Lewis on Enright saw how much run they missed the run off halfback with that match up.

A chance to expose the lack of fitness in Hawkins, Ottens. Corey. And to a lesser degree Mooney and Scarlett.

But I wouldn't bother talking about how to stop Hawkins.

There are other issues. Maybe you are deliberately ignoring them through lack of ideas?

James Kelly on The Footy Show all but admitted that Pods is playing on Saturday night, meaning one of the "slightly injured" Geelong players will miss.

From watching last week's game, these are the candidates;

Hunt (rolled ankle)
Ling (Corked thigh)
Chapman (unkown)
Hawkins (foot)
Stokes (calf)

Ling, Chapman and Stokes will play for sure IMO, but the other 2, Hunt and Hawkins have to be the 2 in the most doubt.

Either way, 1 of their best 22 will not be playing, adding to Max Rooke who is also easily in their best 22.

I'd hope Hunt is out, as it would give our small forwards more chance to "get free", plus Hunt with his penetrating kicking is so deadly out of the backline, and sets up a lot of their scoring plays off half back.

Only player in doubt for us is Wellingham, and he thinks he is going to play, but he may well be over ruled by the medical staff, giving Blair a reprieve.

Disappointed that Blair went, should have been Sidey I think. But great that the SAck is retained, he played great and those speccies were great, surpassing expectations so far - starting to look like he could be a forward as well. they better give Medders a run next week. A belting from the cats might be Medder's best career opportunity

Your list is right. Add to it Corey, who was having treatment on his knee in the rooms before the game, and Bomber said on Tuesday that he is "a week to week proposition". I reckon that will be the late change for Pods.

If that's the case (and I have been thinking a tall might be injured because we never name 2 talls in our emergencies) then West is more likely to come in than Pods (because he's a ruckman), though I wouldn't rule out two changes given how many players we have in doubt.

Yep I would say so.

I don't know if we'll change the side tomorrow though....because our VFL doesn't play on Sunday we can afford bring in all three emergencies if we need to, and heck I'd just pay the 20k anyway (sorry North).

Hawkins is too mobile for exactly zero players in the entire competition.

That's why the league's leading coach opts to play him in the ruck as a mobile second ruckman. A position in which he has played his best football. Somehow that immobile monolith managed to sneak down forward, whilst in the ruck (maybe he hit the hyperspace button?) and kick 4 goals on 2 occasions. Yeah he's not mobile.

He'll take whatever tall they play out of the square, whether that be Ottens, Mooney or Hawkins. It's irrelevant who it is really, because if you've managed to catch any of Presti's work over the last 10 years I'm sure you'd know he'll have no problems with any of those three.

Cast your mind back to Round 3 2009, Hawkins was far too mobile for Presti that day. Hawkins only kicked 2 but he had a hand in half a dozen others. Presti was well beaten that day.

Presti can go with the Fevola's (quick) and Riewoldt's (VERY mobile). I'm pretty sure Hawkins wouldn't pose too many problems for him.

Cast your mind back to to our first final last year. Riewoldt kicked 5 and led Presti a merry dance.

Cast your mind back to Round 10 2010, our last loss. Fevola kicked 2 goals in the last quarter whilst playing on Presti. One was the winning goal.

Presti can be exposed when the ball comes in quick. He may be fast but he isn't as quick off the mark as he once was. He needs 5 yards to wind himself up. If the ball comes in quick, like it did in all the games I've mentioned above, Presti will struggle.

Geelong move the ball into their forward line at breakneck speed. If they are allowed to do that on Saturday night be prepared for a shellacking.

People still underrate Presti after all these years. It gobsmacks me.

It has absolutely nothing to do with whether I rate him or not, it is, as Mick say's, is horses for courses. If Podsiadly is a late inclusion then Presti has a legitimate match-up.

Most of us could see those changes coming.
Both players out are very stiff but the 2 INS are VERY important players.

Hopefully we see Medders back in the coming weeks leading up to the finals. Still think he could bring some x-factor. I think he will be hungry to prove something.

I am really loving our depth at the moment.

If you had said last year that this time this year we would have Fraser, O'Bree, Lockyer, Medhurst etc playing VFL nobody would of listened.

Im not sure whether to start with 3 talls up forward or not.
We dont want Geelong being able to run the ball out of our forward line as they please.... although Leon and Macaffer have good forward pressure.

Hunt is in career best form but I'd like to get Leon on him if we can as Hunt is not the most mobile for a small defender. He has a wicked left boot but has a right ala Gilbert form St.Kilda, none. He'll always wheel around onto his left. Fortunately for him he has the players around him, where he'll just handball to someone under pressure rather then kick on his right. Good player but one I think we can expose.

Looking into it further, I can see 2 late changes for Geelong.
