Hows he going in the VFL and when will we see him in the seniors?

I have him in my SC team (The DumpsterBabies) and could use some extra points.

Your thoughts................

I'm going to state categorically here and now that Sidebottom will NOT be playing this Saturday.

In the hope that I'm proven wrong...

I agree I would find it hard to see him playing on Anzac Day but I would not put is Pass Mick of Selecting him, If he does hope he takes Toovey out for him

I have only read reports and havent seen him first hand as yet.

But has been named in the best 2 weeks straight.

In his first game he had 16 possessions in the 3rd quarter alone.

Last week he got 24 touches and 9 tackles.

Many are saying that he has not had huge effect with his disposal and that he is not looking 100% ready, but I think he should be brought in. Had a terrific pre-season, played well against Essendon in the NAB, played 2 solid VFL games now and if it is wet we need another midfielder.

His footskills are an asset, so think its time to expose him

Toovey has been reasonable - we can't have no run-with players or they will cut us up in the middle ala Carlton.

I like to play kids too - but give Toovey credit when its due. If he's crap fair enough, but he has been reasonable

I think Siebottom will play AFL football in the next 2-3 weeks, based only on what I have seen, with his high disposal rate and also his high efficiency rate.

I think MM and Gavin Brown would be very happy with his development, and are setting him different roles each week to teach him varying aspects of the game and our gameplan.

Jaxson Barham is the example for me, he kept his workrate up, did what he was told, performed really well against Geelong (tagging Kane Tenace), and then was rewarded with a chance, where his workrate didnt change just beacuse he was promoted to seniors.

Sidebottom has impressed me so far, and I would be dissapointed if he doesnt play before the Stkilda and Carlton games.

I think he wont play this week unless either of Didak or Medhurst arent avialable though.

I would think Steele will play this year

if didaks out itll most likely be him in, as someone mentioned he did play against the bombers in the nab so thats another thing going for him.

Keen to see Mccarthy get in the seniors aswell

I think there Simmlar players being not super fast but Put in 100% and can play down back and in the Midfield though Toovey is Taller then Steele but Steele is way better Disposal

I reckon he's a chance. I think Goldsack might make way. If he doesn't play this week we'll definately see him before the end of the year, probably before the split round even.

I hope he gets his debut in the split round like Marty did in '07 in front of myself. He can take off from there as Marty has.

I'd rather see JMac if fit, adds real grunt to the midfield. Rusty isn't quite ready from all reports.
Agree But has a Hammy at the moment and is out for 1 week

I see him as a similar player to Swan, not Toovey. Though even that comparison has its holes.

I think he will play. There are several examples of Mick debuting a player on ANZAC day, and I think given the success of Beams and Barham, and a couple of forced outs (although Shaw was already out), we'll see him take the field.

I think he could possibly come in for Leigh Brown. Yes, I know he's an easy target ra ra ra. And I know he's been playing okay (for him). But we'll be going in too tall against a very fast Essendon side. Even though Steele won't provide pace, having a midfielder with good skills will be better than carrying a lumbering utility.

I've seen him the last two weeks, and he's been good. Not flawless by any means, but good. I think he's close to getting a senior game. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he plays on Anzac Day, especially with a question mark over Didak's hamstring.

PS: As far as a player comparison goes, he reminds me of Paul Hasleby.

I reckon hell play this week, MM loves chucking in youngsters in massive games i think he beleives it shows how they handle such an occassion and gives a big insight into their ability to handle pressure and stand up, for mine he will get picked.

Why does everyone want to drop Leigh Brown? He has been a good back up for Fraser and it gives us the option to run Fraser hard then give him a 5-10 mins rest with someone who could fill gaps in the forwardline or backline. He is not the most talented player we have but he is having a crack.
