First year at the magpies and couldnt make his debut for us thoughts on him for season 2011? can he break into the side as a wing/backman?

He showed good run and carry as a midfielder last year and had consecutive 30-plus possession games towards the end of the season (when he was playing for melbourne)

Yep, I look at Buckley as becoming Johnno's replacement but without the devastating left boot.

edit: Not to say Johnson should be dropped next year, he should be in the side definitely, has been terrific, but somehow squeeze Buckley in for a few games to see how he goes.

We haven't lost a huge deal of games from 2010 to retirements, but we have lost enough. I for one think the way we managed our players was a real strength and we are still going to need to make those games up and possibly more if we don't get the same good run with injury that we had this year.

Krak and Taz will certainly cover that but I still think there will be oppertunities for guys like Rounds, Buckley, JA, Davis, J-mac and possibly Wood. You never know who's form may drop and in turn who will really put there hand up and take their chance to cement themself a spot. If you had told me at this time last year Medhurst would not be a part of our finals campaign but Blair would play every game of it, well I would have thought you were taking the piss.

Jst another Corrie pick-up now. Doubt he we get into the side now with the players we have got. Probs just make the emergencies most of the time. good back up for injuries tho.

I think his form deserved a game, but we had a very stable side and he didn't get a chance via injury. Given he is a back flanker, its a hard team to crack

Maybe because we hardly lost a game all year could be one reason why he didn't get into the team

So if you don't rate him as a person i suppose you don't like Swan,Didak or Shaw either??

maybe it's because he belted his ex missus that i don't rate him as a person.
he's just clogging up the list.

He might get a game next year, but it's an incredibly tough side to crack. A lot depends on his attitude next year, if he really wants to be part of the side he'll work his butt off to get a chance and keep it, like Blair did.

His VFL form was solid.

Hard to break into the AFL side with so much pressure for places and with such a settled team really never had a chance in 2010.

2nd year rule is a good one to go by. Paul Medhurst and Leigh Brown are evidence of this. 1 year learning the team structures and settle in, the 2nd year to establish at AFL level.

Hard to see him breaking into the side in 2011, but with that said will get every chance.

He had some off-field issues and a limited pre-season following bad injuries in 2009. Realistically, 2011 is his last chance to make it. He has plenty of talent and I've seen him do some really good things on a footy field...he just has to get it all together and get consistent footy going.

I actually rate him...i just don't know if he has what it takes to crack it in the big time. Hoping he gets his chance early next year so we can make a more decent assessment. I always liked him at Melbourne.
