I cant help but feel that the main reason why we are doing alot better this year, along with some youngish players stepping up, is the stellar form of Goody. Hes been racking up possesions, and been what I think is our most consistant midfielder this year. We missed him last year, so I see it is important that he keeps fit for our suprisingly good start to the year can continue.
I think Goody slipps under the guard of many opposing teams who try to take Micky and Roo out of the game, not unlike Chad Flecther of the WCE.

Anyway, I agree, Goody has indeed been a goody this season and we definatley missed him last year. I also think our good run with injury has been a significant reason too.

Because no body would give Michael Doughty that much credit and say he is the cataloes for our resurgence this season? If you did you must have simply said it in jest.

Goodwin has been excellent and if we were to lose him we'd be in deep shizunhousen

Goody has been simply exceptional. He is in AA form this year.

Goody is having a fantastic year.....we've basically been without him since he busted his wrist against Hawthorn in 2003.

Good point. If Goody had played round one we would now be shooting for 8-3 this weekend. Simple as that

I feel relieved when Goodwin gets the ball because I know he's going to kick it long and direct and not chip or handball it all over the place.

i was watching the 97 or 98 grandfinal the other day and goodwin was only average and reminds me alot of mattner. He has improved so much. The only problem i think goody was a bit younger. Same with roo as well. Macca is easily our best player when you look at those games again, its easy to forget that.

and we certainly have missed goodwin the last couple of yrs. The reason we are doing well is basically cause we've had no injuries. Sheedy said today that they were playing the kids and just going to finish as high as they can and have a crack in a yr or two. Even though we are winning i cant help but think we should be doing the same. Injures to one or two of our top liners and its pretty much season over.

Yeah true, we arent in a GOOD position to win the cup, however if we leave it 2-3 years, we will loose quite a few of our better players - as they are ageing, which leave a ******** probnosis for the future, without some belter trades
