Am simply staggered by how good he actually is.

I do not say this lightly, but seeing how he consciously dedicates himself to being a complete all round player, with skills as dynamic inside/outside, ground ball/aerial contest, left/right, puts him in the frame of one Gaz Senior

Obviously, doesnt have the runs on the board to challenge for that title, but the fact he is actively engaging and developing all aspects of his game makes him the most exciting player in the competition....by a long way at moment.

but opposition can't tag everyone. That is part of the bonus of Danger - focus on him and Selwood runs free. Great dilemma to present to the opposition.

For sure, but the key for the future is for guys like Guthrie Caddy and Motlop to step up when either/both are tagged/injured/out of form.
It's happened once this year but I'd like to see it a few more times before finals.

If there was any doubt who may be our best player, it's emphatically been answered the last fortnight.

Selwood is going to go down as one of our greatest ever but what Dangerfield is doing right now, only a handful of mids over the last few years have matched this kind of brilliance.
31 disposals, 16 of them contested, 5.5 marks, 2 of them contested, 7.5 inside fifties, 5.5 tackles, 6.5 clearances & almost 1 goal per game is something else.

Playing alongside Selwood hasn't hurt his returns. Selwood is one of the most feared (by coaches) in the comp. PFD is getting a run he never did at Adelaide. As well as the interchange changes having helped all the elite mids.

Might be good to ruffle some feathers. He has the kudos and runs on the board to make a statement like that (wouldn't look good coming from a Motlop for example at the moment). They *need* to have a good hard look at themselves to figure out why their form is so inconsistent. If that comes out of a statement like that from Paddy, then I'm all for it.

I'm assuming Selwood didn't put his hand up to be on radio. Danger obviously did.
Danger is in the leadership group. And a gun of the AFL. Completely happy for him to say it. He is setting an example after all.

It's not a matter of Selwood not putting his hand up. These media commitments are planned days, sometimes weeks in advance. The club doesn't pick and choose which player fronts the media after a win and which player fronts the media after a loss - it's all predetermined.

We haven't proven anything so far this season.

This is what gets me about our team. Not just this year but recent years.
I may be way off but sometimes it feels like we just think we're better than we are or that some of the players think we're still the 2009, 10, 11 team, despite a huge amount of them not playing any part of that time/those achievements.

We've won one final in 4 years. Were five goals off good teams for a long time. Then we finished 10th. Then we lose to teams who are bottom or mid-table and struggling. Complacency seems to be a problem but why on earth do we have the right to feel complacent? We've played good footy at times but so do half the competition.

Even comments abut "lesser teams" (sure they are talking abut how you can't take them lightly but even talking like we're so far above those teams) and even Scotty saying "we've still got 8 weeks till finals".
I know we're practically guaranteed finals but we haven't locked our spot yet and I'd rather our coach wouldn't talk like we're locked in and can spend 8 weeks tinkering with our best team.

Guthrie and Duncan are no slouches. I doubt either Selwood or Danger could lock down a player and play a good game at the same time any better than Guthrie. And he's a better player, of course, but wake me up when Danger gets Duncan's kicking skills.

Considering that he was selected in the leadership group after his first pre-season at the club, not sure we should be questioning him making honest statements like that in the media.

At least he has performed at the level where he can make those statements
