I will keep it in order for you...ok

Thanks, I appreciate it

Then you took umbrage at this post?

Care to show me this??

So how is he supposed to improve his defence in a defensive orientated league like the Euro leagues? and that's why I said the NDBL.

Would you like to rethink your question here?? :D

When were you ever talking about my lake of knowledge? I was always talking about how what was best for Julius Hodges and how he could improve his defence.

^^^^^^^ Does this ring a bell?? Yes, originally you were after reading back. I was questioning your lack of knowledge of the european style of basketball, but because your knowledge is dismal at best you bring your argument back to only talking about Juilus Hodge.

Fine I am not going to lose any sleep knowing you don't respect my basketball knowledge, I don't care.

Brad surfs in to Sixers

THE Adelaide 36ers have signed 340-game NBL veteran Brad Davidson and rookie Matt Sutton for their 2007-08 Philips Championship campaign.

The Sixers also are unlikely to retain imports Willie Farley and Nick Horvath or late signing Marcus Timmons in a team which management is busy renovating after a club-worst 11th placing.
Davidson, 32 and born in Mildura, has logged point guard minutes at Townsville, Cairns, Hunter and Singapore and has more than the requisite grunt the 36ers of recent times have lacked. Averaging 8.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds across a long and respected career, Davidson is a 182cm no-nonsense terrier unlikely to take a nap when a team-mate is having his arm broken or being shoved into the scoretable by an opponent.

The retention of Sutton - one of the few shining lights in a season of unprecedented dimness - tends to suggest captain Brett Maher may be heading back to his natural shooting guard role.

Releasing the indolent Farley reinforces that impression.

Sutton, 22 and a 193cm playmaker, logged time in 25 games and quickly became a fan favourite with his defensive intensity and decision-making, hardly Adelaide's 2006-07 strengths.

"The contracts are still subject to NBL approval," 36ers' operations manager Paul Bauer said last night. "But we're very happy to retain Matty and getting a tough player like Brad probably reflects an area where we thought the side was lacking this year.

"Brad's very excited about coming and whether he starts or is a back-up to Mahersy depends on some of the import decisions."

Clubs are not allowed to negotiate with free agents until a fortnight after the grand final concludes or the player's previous club approves. Singapore allowed Davidson to start negotiations.

Sixers coach Phil Smyth said the tenacious guard had been a target for "several years".

He also said Sutton had made the most of his opportunities in 2006-07 and Adelaide's import decisions were still "up in the air".

"It doesn't appear likely Willie or Nick will be back with us but that decision will be contingent on other players," Smyth said.

Horvath, preparing for the NZ NBL season with Wellington Saints, suffered a freak thumb injury closing the window at a restaurant and will miss between four and six weeks. Farley has gone home to the U.S. Mark Nash, the only player from the 2007 team who had a contract for next year, is with Hobart in the SEABL.

West Sydney's Liam Rush is the NBL Most Improved Player.

Brad Davidson is a pretty good pickup.

Whats happening with the Slingers though, players look like leaving left right and centre.

It really isn't a very attractive option for players I guess. The Franchise might last a couple more years, doesnt look like being any more at this stage.

Horvath's style didn't compliment Smyth's system, so it will be a win win for both parties.

Apparently Ballinger is on the sixers radar. his style would however compliment Phil's system.

Exactly,

Phil Smyth’s system work well when every player on the court can face the basket by stepping out to the 3 point line and consistently hitting that jump shot.

Nick Horvath and Paul Rogers struggled to hit a jump shot. Both are very good players but are simply back to the basket players that are effective when they can receive the ball in the post.

That’s why Martin Cattalini, Kevin Brooks, Paul Maley, Matt Garrison, Paul Rees and Dusty Rychart were successful during there time at the sixers and that is why David Cooper is working extremely hard to improve his jump shot.

Adam Ballinger would be a very nice addition to the Sixer roster for next year.

not quite so much the jumpshot, but the ability to create your own shots, whether through movement off screen or dribble.

but broadly speaking, fair.

Some good points, but the most essential part to Phil's system is being able to create your own shots. The Cat, KB, Mailman, Matt G and Dusty could create their own shots.

Horvath couldn't do this, he relied too much on the offence to create shots for him, in which clogged up the offence. In a structured offence, Horvath would be very dangerous. Just not in Phil's

That’s his Duke Basketball education right there. Coach K is a master for system and structure on the offensive end as well as playing discipline basketball on the defensive end (this part of Nicks game got lost somewhere).

If Nick Horvath played for BG and the Sydney Kings his number would improve almost 8 PPG as the offensive structure would rotate around his needs.

This is where i disagree. if you compare BG's national style to his NBL style they are totally different.

The Kings play a lot like the sixers, except they try to execute in offensive and defensive transitions a lot more. Why do you think they cut EJ Rowland, cause he is a defensive minded pass first PG, taht likes to play in a structure.

BG's national style is a lot different, as he has players like Bogut, Rogers, Schenenser etc that play back to the basket and need a structured offence.

Yeah i can see that.
