Injury SJOGHCIU 2021

That is actually insane, no team can be expected to cover that many injuries and win a premiership
It's a pretty simple representation. I'd like to see the points broken down by player. There are two things that might save us:

  1. Barrass, McGovern and Ryan are back soon, which would reduce this number significantly
  2. We are in the easy part of the draw and have the chance to keep winning even with our depleted squad
Getting close to our best 22 back on the field by the bye is crucial, as we will have a tough few weeks at that point.

I am happy to face dogs tigers and Melbourne at Optus. This is actually a good spot to be and smart about when to bring players back. You also missed Hurn which contributes to 99% of those e games LOL.

what's the bet they forgot a player or two as well? one footy show put up some of our outs and had petro and venables but not rioli or TB.

Rioli is suspended rather than injured - so wouldn't be covered by the graphic (I assume other suspended players are excluded from the list also).

GC probably quite low as Rowell hasn't had enough of a run at it to build up points.

But yes, we have some very key players out currently (a list that has sadly been growing, but hopefully has now turned the corner to decreasing).

The next 2-3 weeks look good for personnel to return to the side - hopefully we can retain our Adelaide home game (with a crowd), and there is an outside chance the GWS game might need to switch to a home game for us - or a neutral venue - due to Sydney's outbreak today.

I think its about time the hard word was put to the medicos. This is bordering on negligent.

They are either reactive by bringing players back too early or have no idea how to manage high performance athletes pre during and post games. The eagles board probably let go of the experienced Medico's to save cash and now we are paying for it. standard case of mixing cost versus expense. Sometimes it is worth paying individuals big $$ due to their intangible value. This is for sure now our Achilles hill. Our medical department all together needs to be reviewed immediately.

Just for the record :

Glenn Stewart is our current high performance manager and has been at the club since 1991

Warren Kofoed is our strength and conditioning coach and has been at the club since 2008 after he’d previously been at Richmond for 8 years

Whatever problems, perceived or real, our medicos have it isn’t due to either a lack of experience or tenure at the club

And as for the saving cash part, that was forced upon us by the AFL when they slashed the football department spending cap by a third. It wasn’t a club decision but something we had to comply with whether we liked it or not

I blame the soft youth of today. In my day, we played footy on gravel and never a stubbed toe or grazed elbow...

Then again, it could just be a combination of bad luck, hard surfaces (maybe) and constant travel impacting on recovery etc...I really doubt our medicos are sub-standard. Sure, they no doubt make mistakes but they are being accused of being soft (in other threads) to let players take holidays or incompetent for rushing players back. Maybe it's just a hard sport on the body and we have had some bad luck.

Great points. Also, the lower rotations must be having an impact. It looks to me like the AFL has got that one wrong.

Early 2000s Richmond strength and conditioning doesnt fill me with confidence.

I suggest decisions like Duggan's are made with specialist consutltants not just the club. The quality in WA is another matter but we can use any consultant nationally/or internationally if we wseek it.

Thank you for clarifying it hence why I used to word probably. In saying that- Glenn Stweart and Warren Kofoed please pack your bags and leave. Our High-performance manager is there since 1991?? Jesus christ. what are the chances that he has kept up with the latest trends of performance on athletes?? I would say close to unlikely. who holds a role for over 3 decades at a club?? especially for this area that evolves rapidly??
