I got Mehrunes Dagger thru a quest and i have just performed a finishing move kill on a Frost Dragon with it, jumping on its head and slashing away in the cut scene.

I must say its the best thing I have experienced in the whole game so far!!!

Good fun when you get the instant kill with that dagger. I got it a couple of times.

Got my smithing to 100 just before. Made myself some Dragonscale armour. Looks awesome. Made me glad.

Yeah just did the Mehrunes quest. Shame you can't steal the Daedric armour :(

My main weapon has gone from 28 to 48 all of a sudden. Anyone know why. Does this happen by going up and doing one handed perks?

is there an easier way to get the house in whiterun than pay the $5k?

any other tips for levelling up? i have just been trying to do all the quests and seem to be getting no where level wise. it seems i am better off just walking around country killing stuff.

Exactly.:thumbsu:

Yeah, increasing your armour or weapon perks will increase the armour rating or damage of each item.

Loving this game so far. Much more like Morrowind than Oblivion.

The main story ties into the world so much better than any of the other ES games. Like when you're strolling through a small town and a dragon attacks, perching on a rooftop and flaming the residents. I was in Riverrun and the blacksmith that I'd befriended earlier in the game was killed by a dragon, his wife ran in to help and she was killed too. Just makes the threat of the dragons seem so much more real.

I bought a horse but enjoy walking so much more since there's always something to distract you.

The increase in random encounters like in Fallout makes it so much more fun too. It's so cool to be walking around and just happen upon a group of bandits being attacked by a bear or to be ambushed by a drunken elf.

I also like the way the guild story lines are shorter but more dramatic this time around.

I was hoping combat would be better but at least its still an upgrade over oblivion. I chose dual wielding but kind of wish I had started with a shield and sword instead. Haven't really tried much in the way of magic yet.

I've sort of tried to hold myself back from visiting all the towns straight away as I like to spend a bit of time in each one and soak it all in and save the others for later but the game kind of forces you into visiting most of them. I pretty much only have Winterhold left to visit. Enjoying the towns themselves so much more in this game too. Even small towns like Falkreath and Ivansguard are really cool. You get a real sense of isolation and mystery.

The main story in Skyrim has engaged me a lot more than the previous ES games too. In Morrowind I kind of got sidetracked too often and found it hard to keep track of what was going on. In Oblivion I just didn't really care for the main story. One gripe I have with the main story in this, and previous games is a lack of deep characters that you can actually give a shit about. It would be nice if there were people involved that you actually felt like saving the world for. If only Bethesda could team up with the writers from the Dragon Age games.

Pretty darn happy with that then. Love my sword.

What sword are you using? The best weapon I have come across is an Ebony War Axe. So I just enchanted it, and made it flawless on the grindstone, and been using that since.

Just made my smithing skill 100 from buying all the leather I could from all the merchants and now I have the perks to make a Glass and I used some potions and some enchanted gloves to increase my smithing even more and turned my Glass bow from 38 to 'Legendry' and now it deals 51 damage!
When I wear all my armour with increase Bow damage enchantments I can usually 1 shot most enemies with the critical strikes from the Archery perks.
It also helps to add a frostbite poison to each shot...

Now does 48 damage.

any tips for giants/mammoths?

i am only level 9 dark elf so i am guessing i need a few more levels before taking on these bad boys.

Just avoid. You do eventually get a shout that allows you to have animals in your radius to help you. When I come up against Giants I just shout at there mammoths and let the mammoths take the blows while I get the cheap shot in the giants back. Then I kill the mammoths while they still like me.:thumbsu::)

Currently doing the Dark Brotherhood quests and decided to smith myself some daggers, I'm waiting until I can smith Daedric but I currently have 2 legendary eleven daggers each do 45 damage and when I sneak attack it does 12 times damage pretty fun.

Skyrim to be the scourge of the coming summer

BE warned. If you were planning on hanging outdoors and getting fit this Christmas, it's probably best you don't score a copy of Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim.

A few quick thoughts and my progress:

Skyrim Lesson #1 - adjust (downwards) your Skyrim goals to achieve in X hours of RL time.
... last night I mentally created a "to do tonight list" or seemingly achievable goals: do my "prove/join companion circle" quest, grab my Mara marraige necklace, do that dog quest mentioned in previous posts. In 6 hours of solid gaming I only managed 2.5 of those... aside from the companion quest taking ~ 90mins to complete, you just get side tracked with other things.

Anyway.. brief points:
- now level 16.
- companion circle quest netted me about 2000g (not including weapons/items) running the "dungeon"... lots of small items to loot that added up.
- levelled "Smithing" from 20-45 in now time (doing Iron Daggers)... cost about 500g... but leveling this levelled my toon from 12-14 in about 20 mins.
- killed 2 more dragons... both when 1st arriving at a newly visited main city (Rifton and some other).
- I can now breathe fire FTW... now just need to do it out my arse FTLs.
- got my "marriage" bling, but will wait, build up my toon, roam the realm for the best... no settling here.
- ohh I did that "free house" exploit in WhiteRun... got a crib now, but it is filled with dust/cobwebs etc... I might need a wife sooner than I planned. ;)

- enjoying being a stealthy archer... in sneak mode, in the shadows, about 30m behind an enemy.... flooommmmbbb 2X critical 1-shot kills to the back of the head.
- or fire a decoy arrow over their head, they turn to investigate the sound... 2ndary arrow in their back.
- quite challenging fighting other archers... your both do a strathing dance between releases.
- also challenging when fighting with a melee companion... trying to time your shots when there is an opening, so you don't shot your companion... which I've done a few times. Funny though seeing them run around with 1 (or more) of your arrows sticking out of them for the next few minutes. :|

- they F'ed up with that dog quest voice... sounds so out of place in this world... like one of the Trailier Park Boys being in Lord of the Rings.
- have ran across a few graphic bugs... toon got stuck carrying a wolf for a bit... Save/Load fixed them.
- NPC voice/chat... hmm... they need a method to read what the NPC has just said. Too many times I'm interupted in RL during a VO and affraid I missed something of note.

QUESTION: anyone know if there is any sort of "level cap"??? Looking over the "perks" etc and there is SOOO many things I want to dump perk points into. Even if I rule out the magic & melee "constellations" I can still see myself wanting to dump 100+ points in to: Archery, Stealth, Locking, Blacksmithing, Light Armor, Alchemy and others.

Will google more tonight... but can anyone give me a brief summary of the differences between the top level armors?

ie difference between: Glass, Dragon and is it Daedric ??

cheers

Think it's level 60 but once you reach 60, you start levelling slower and it's around 70-80 where you peak.

When you buy a house, do you get chests where you can stash all your stuff. Struggling to keep under 300.

You get chest, dresser, cupboards and all that after you furnish your home. The home on it's own is just big empty space, with some boxes and cobwebs.

81 is pretty much the cap as you run out of perks after that. But you can improve until 100.

The to-do list is a terrible idea. I've been meaning to start the Dark Brotherhood quests for 4 days now. All I need to do is sleep in a bed as well:(

You just get sidetracked.

Just chuck all your stuff in a chest in one of the factions you have joined. Or in the secret room in Riverwood, where Delphine shows you the dragon stuff. I have a chest with over 1000 weight of stuff sitting in Riverwood. Dont own the place, but it's all there.

Mines in the companion guild. About 100000 gold plus.

Only really pick up really expensive stuff and gems now and health.

Mine was in the companions place, but then I realised I had been going through 2 doors (my stuff was downstairs), so I took it all to Riverwood, and now only need to go through 1 :p

I only pick up stuff I know I can disenchant, or sell for a good price. Potions too, obviously. Also using the Steed sign, so I can carry more stuff anyway.

I just use the sideroom which is on the first floor.
