Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER will embark on an Australian/New Zealand tour in April. Support at the shows will come from MASTODON. The dates are as follows:

Apr. 12 - Metro, Perth
Apr. 14 - Thebarton, Adelaide
Apr. 15 - Vodafone Arena, Melbourne :thumbsu:
Apr. 17 - Hordern, Sydney
Apr. 19 - Riverstage, Brisbane
Apr. 21 - St James Theatre, Auckland (New Zealand)

Tickets go on sale on January 18.

As previously announced, American Recordings has pushed back the projected release date of the "Unholy Alliance" CD+DVD package to February 27, 2007 from the previously announced February 13, 2007. Filmed on July 13, 2006 at Vancouver's 18,000-seat General Motors Place, "Unholy Alliance" features performance footage from SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM and THINE EYES BLEED. DVD bonuses include backstage footage and band interviews.

SLAYER's "Christ Illusion" album, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard chart, has sold 146,000 copies in the United States since its Aug. 8 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The Perth show has been moved to a larger venue because it sold out in less than a day. The new location for the Perth show is the Robinson Pavilion.
I've got my tickets to the Adelaide & Melbourne gigs.

I can't believe people here are going just because of Mastodon, lol I'm guessing they've never even heard much of Slayer beyond AOD. I'm going and can't ********ing wait, Dave Lombardo!!!!

Got my ticket. Hadn't heard of Mastodon previously, and seeing as some posters are preferring to see them over the "Kings of speed metal" I thought I'd illegally d'load one of their albums. I'm impressed, but...

THERE AINT NO WAY THESE JOHNNY-COME-LATELY'S ARE GOING TO OUTROCK TOM, JEFF, KERRY & DAVE (so there)!!!

Had to be said/shouted.

Was gunna say Mastodon are hardly J-C-L's, but I just checked their bio. They've only been around for 8 years, which in Metal circles (where longevity is king) is about 5 minutes.....

LOL. Yeah, I was prolly a little hasty with posting my feelings. Don't get me wrong-I like what they have to offer (after listening to only one album, and I think its the latest one).

If I had one gripe alone, it would be that a couple of tracks are in the vein of what I'd call "Chick Metal". Heavy where it matters, but we don't mind chucking in a bit of lovey-stuff to keep the girlies interested. I see The Butterfly Effect employing the same tactics (and that comment is bound to upset some folks).
