I see it the other way. A highly tuned athlete need only something minor to go wrong and their performance is stuffed. Ammos turn up half drunk and you can only smell the difference. Drop a spark plug off your formula 1 car and you'll notice the effect immediately. Same issue with your 120Y, "what issue".
its certainly true of someone like Gary Ablett, but Sloane is made of sterner stuff I reckon and better at playing through discomfort.

I was kind of angling more towards an increased capacity for healing though.

This graph shows recovery from uncomplicated appendicitis.
The line we're interested in is the top one (strenuous activity). It shows that about 3-5% of people from this study were able to return to strenuous activity 9 days after surgery.

But it also shows that Betts, who returned after 14 days, fits into the top 10% of recovery times

Let's not sugar coat it. Sloane is our most important player (in our weakest area of the ground). Would be a big blow if he misses out.
We're the cats fans bitching and moaning with Selwood out against GWS? They seemed to go ok. Sloane is very important but I think we are much more robust then you think . GWS are way off us imo.

Eddie's appendix burst and he felt good on the Thursday before the Sunday game (about 10 days). Perhaps Rory's was a more precautionary removal? He may well be fine to play yet?

I don't know what they do internally like stitches that may need a recovery time. There's likely inflammation that needs to go down. Time is the problem... is 8 days enough?

So yeah, he isn't playing then... ****

Not enough information has been released and I am no medical expert. From what I am reading and hearing he is definitely a chance if everything went ok.

Any professional athlete should be in the top 5+% of recovery times.

Sloane being a few years younger than Betts has me optimistic as well...

No way Sloane will miss the first final because of this, it's an annoying hurdle which he will find a way to overcome. It's Sloane after all, as long as he's not in danger of doing serious damage, he'll be playing.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but doc Peter Larkins on Fiveaa said Sloane should get up.
Looking good, get an extra week off if we win in case it's sore.

Happy days.

Hopefullly he is right. As long as there are no major risks Sloane will give himself every chance to play.

I was really confident heading about this game.

I'm still somewhat confident but putting some money on GWS to be able to drink away my pain just in
case.

You're not meant to exercise for 2 weeks after the surgery let alone play AFL football.
6 weeks to get near fully recovered.
Betts was right on the 2 week time period and they let him jump straight to playing.
9 days is asking a lot. It's easy for us to sit here saying it'll be fine.

Sloane though, I don't see him accepting missing the game.
What the doctors say will be the decider.
Doctor Larkin on 5AA said he'll play if no complications.

In larkins we trust.
He did seem very confident Sloane would get up provided there were no complications

I blame the Nutrition staff. Stop feeding them nuts and sunflower seeds. #DietitianGate
Actually it's low fibre diets that are more chance of being a problem.

Was thinking though, couldn't be a more loved guy in the group to motivate the team to bigger things. The group will rise for Sloaney I reckon, lift for your mate boys.

Now it's on a much lower level, but like Melbourne lifted against us after hearing what Hogan was dealing with. Might work out ok.
