Doesnt surprise me.

What surprises me is that players do not have it removed during the off season.

He definitely will not be 100% and the question has to be asked, should he play.

Players health should always come first.

It's often not something you see coming that far out.

Larkins seems pretty confident he will play. Said that it's literally like one stitch and after a few days there will be like no pain at all as long as nothing went wrong as it's been confirmed it didn't burst.

My experience is fairly different.

Totally different sport, but some food for thought regarding appendectomy recovery recorded.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

Im not optimistic. Sloane will miss the match imo.

Its probably the second biggest body blow for a player for us to lose, maybe Sauce is first.

its certainly true of someone like Gary Ablett, but Sloane is made of sterner stuff I reckon and better at playing through discomfort.

I was kind of angling more towards an increased capacity for healing though.

As we've seen with a few ammos that have referred to their own 4 weeks out, we can be near certain that an elite athlete recovers more quickly than the average yobbo. But, amongst elite athletes there remains variables as to their recovery capacity. I'm not sure the eliteness of the athlete has a direct relevance to the period of recovery.

oh for sure, but at this stage it suits me to believe that Sloane is closer to Wolverine than most...

9 day break will be an enormious effort to get up.

If anyone can, Rory Sloane can.

Lot of water to go under the bridge but Burton seems pretty confident he'll be right to go. I've gone from thinking no chance this morning to fairly certain he'll play.

Same here

I think the question shouldn't be "will he play", as if all is well then, but "should he play". In other words, what is the likelihood that he will be playing unencumbered and well, and also not do himself harm for the following match(es)?
Remember, we on BF are completely against playing "injured" players.

You've got to wonder about some of our media outlets.

Nine news mentioned Betts took 12 days so Sloane will be pushing it in 9, no mention Betts burst his.

At least 7 picked up on it.
