We're 7 points behind at 1/2 time
Played an excellent 1st quarter, but took Our foot of the excellorator(sp) in the 2nd. Not getting the ball out of the middle enough and not using our opportunites in the 50. Positives, playing good, hard team footy. Cous is going superbly after going off for short period of time. Kerr is a little legend, he's going really well. Winning a ball which he was 1 on 2. Wooden is playing well, although his direct opponent, Harvey, is our biggest thorn in our side. I would like to see Jones pick him up in the second half.
All in all, a pretty good quality start to the game, I hope we can finish it off though!

Well played to the Parrots, and even though we beat you fair and square on the day, the 44 point margin belied the struggle of the second half, and didn't indicate how close it got in the last quarter. I think of those 8 last-quarter goals, 7 of those would have been from the middle of the quarter onwards.

Rocca kicked 6 and Carey kicked 5 - both played well, but neither completely dominant.
Pickett was BOG in my opinion, for the way he mentally and physically outplayed Peter Matera, and by the time Matera was moved off him, the damage had already been done (refer to the Roos board if you are game to interpret my analysis).

I think it worked well for both sides - the Parrots showed they could take it up to a quality side in the Roos, and the Roos got a handy (albeit small) percentage boost, while not missing out on a tough physical contest.
It was a hard fought contest from start to finish, with lots of hard ball and body clashes, which was indicative of how footy should be played. A couple of good, fair hits by Pickett and Wilson, and while the physical clashes were good for the game, it could cost either side (or both) a few injured players for upcoming matches.

All in all, well played but...

I think we did quite well under the circumstances. We were missing Kemp, McIntosh, Read, Prior, Banfield, Morrison, Braun, Sierakowski and Gaspar. Nth had a full strength team with Carey, Rocca, Harvey, Grant and Pickett all firing and yet they only really beat us in the last 10mins of the 4th qtr.

So next year with a full strength team and the youngsters with more experience, i think we will be a quality side.
