Opinion MRP - The Evil SOB??

Love the thread title. Lets rip away boys

I heard as part of punishment for captured Russian soldiers, Ukraine plan having them run around MRP and then send them back home. After all those torn hamstrings they got no chance of going back into combat

The State government has launched legal action against WCE for misappropiation of the MRP grounds. The club did not apply for a license to have it be used as a crematorium. Nisbett plans on fighting the charges stating that its only dreams that go to die at MRP, not people.

No mention of the surface, sack him!
Was a shithouse interview. How can you talk about the club and not mention the word injury. The top 5 things on Don Pykes list of things to fix should all involve the word injury and in all aspects.

After 3 years id like to think people realise its not bad luck, its not lizard people and just maybe the injury list is actually caused by internal problems we have at the club. We replaced every human involved with injury management who lived and the result is a month of destruction on the training field and 10 blokes on the injury list before we even kicked a football and gave ourselves the chances to get a contact injury. The evidence is gathering the injury list isnt the staffs fault. Now we move on to the next phase and that is the shithole we train at

It doesnt even pass the eye test

Go through the pictures and you can see. That grass is burnt. At what point of the season do you expect us to play on a ground that looks like that? If we wont play on it during the year, why do we train on it?

Grass and turf isnt some new science that needs reinvention or investigating. Its a exact science, a easy science and one that you dont need too much knowledge to understand outside normal farming practices. The problem is simple, the turf underlay soil is too coarse which means the grass doesnt maintain water amongst many many other things. It will make it hard, it will make it uneven (which is why the grass looks inconsistent in areas) and it will also mean that it wont survive changing weather patterns (which is why its burnt to a crisp).

Relaying surface isnt some months long journey of epic proportions. It costs a buttload of money for sure, but its not something that takes a long time to do. Soccer clubs worldwide replace their turf in days, they need to have that ability if the turf freezes over or the opposite where the underground heating basically burns it to a crisp. Normally takes them less then a week to redo. Id be staggered if we couldnt re-do the MRP turf in 2-3 weeks max and that would be us being extra cautious.

2-3 weeks training at other facilities such as the Western Forces facilities in Floreat, fix the concrete dustbowl and when we go back in March, we can train on a surface during the week which wont destoy our legs before the game even starts.

I get people want to assume the best and in turn accept mediocirity when it comes to subjects they dont understand but that is why we are where we are. The accepting of mediocrity based on past good results is leading us to be the worst team in AFL history. Now I think we should well change that myself, rather then just up and accept our problems

We have a problem, the grass is stuffed. ******* fix it

I've always been critical of MRPs surface but what injuries do we currently have that are ground related? Sheeds foot? Maybe Hewett but he had that injury before being drafted. I can't think of any others.

Well, if you listen to the 6PR interview from last night you might just see he's happy to discuss those issues.

Id say he has his head in the sand but the sand would be too tough to get your head into it at MRP.

He just seems like another guy too scared to make the changes really. A shame

Funny, I had money on you listening to the interview and responding “hmm, he raised some good points, I will definitely take those on board in considering this issue in the future”.

Nothing to discuss though

It doesnt take 18 months for him to figure out MRP is a piece of crap. I mean if you called me up and said "Hey my garden keeps dieing" and I said "No problemo, ill do 18 months of soil testing and let you know what I find" you are going to look at me in a blank fashion for sure

I mean you are buying the political waffle, Im not. He knows the problems. Dont talk about it, action it and fix it

If you honestly believe it takes 18 months to figure out why grass keeps dieing then you are beyond all hope in terms of believing the PR spin our club dishes out im afraid. Look at it on face value and I suppose realise it isnt logical and what they say does not make sense

Pretty sure Pyke worked for Sydney Swans the past few years, so why would he commission a review into the turf 18 months ago?

Nisbett may have been rigid in regards to it but Pyke's only been officially in the job 5 weeks.

Also, until we actually get a swathe of injuries this year that aren't impact related, it'd be difficult to determine if this actually is the cause or not.

The review of the grounds has been going on for 18 months and pre-dates Don Pyke. Shouldnt even take 18 hours if we are being fair dinkum here.

Impact related injuries isnt really a thing in training cos you are not meant to be well causing impact so its not a surprise that this is the case. What truly matters is lower leg issues. We have 10 of them

10 out of 44 isnt a great return and when Don says "This is all fine and normal" he is perpetuating something that is simply a lie. Do Fremantle have 10 players not training. 5 hamstring injuries to Fremantles 0 is a pretty good indication that perhaps we are worse off then Freo also.

1. Match sim doesn’t involve impact?
2. What are the 10 lower leg injuries?

We have Sheed, who's had a foot issue for quite some time. Maybe be MRP related, could be Optus?

Hewett, who had issues before he was drafted. Don't recall him training that much at MRP for the 2 years prior.

3 blokes who went to Qatar to get specialist treatment who have been in great nick all preseason.

A couple of blokes who have returned to full training after a couple of weeks taking a back seat.

Darling, who's old, but is still doing running.

So realistically it's Sheed(out for a while with a foot problem, could be MRP related?), Hewett(longstanding issue prior to being drafted) and Ryan(already back at training and doing rehab work but appears to be recovering well.

It's not the issue you're making it out to be.

1. Zero of our injuries occured during match sim so no. We did have 1 corkie with Liam Duggan but that was during normal training not Match sim

2. Ive answered this over half a dozern times but list is - Trew, Sheed, Hewett, Ryan, Darling, Burgiel, Kelly, Rotham, A. Reid, Ginbey, Chesser . These are known ones. Jones/Duggan/Yeo also had injury scares in relations to corks and soreness which has led to them having a week off so smaller issues. TOn top of that though you still got Culley coming back too and Jake Waterman building back too. All of this is not a injury issue it seems...
