I'm more disappointed at losing Pearce. Apparently Port had spies during these "rookie tryouts" and were intentionally going to try and nab him away from the crows. Certainly worked. He went onto win NAB Rising star...

seriously, you do realise that there are 15 other clubs in the draft don't you.

so what they held a draft camp whihc other players got picked up, how suprising.

I suppose the problem with having so much money is you can run these things.

what's surprising is you had access to test these players right under your nose, in a way that the other 15 clubs didn't.

I'm just pointing out the fact that maybe when the AFC deems Matthew Priddis 'too slow', and Danyle Pearce, Scott McMahon, Joel Patful and Heath Grundy won't make the cut, meanwhile picking up Nye, Sugars, Elliot who also trained right under their nose, it's very intriguing.

I raised a point. Surely you would take Priddis now in hindsight, rather than go 'Oh the AFC hasn't done anything wrong, we're perfect'.

Geelong makes mistakes, Adelaide mistakes, the other 14 clubs make mistakes. I was just simply pointing out something that I doubt many posters are aware of - that last years WAFL Medallist and this years biggest improver trained with you.

hindsight is wonderful - but when the crows looked at him he could have been way off - hence the biggest improver thing

I just get annoyed with people bringing up the what ifs, its pointless.

Mate in this day and age if your recruiters werent in the bushes watching them go through their paces, you were not being as professional as the other 14 who were.

FWIW, I think Geelong were watching, but just missed the talent worse than we did.

What about all the clubs that passed on Rutten, Bock, Mattner? Every club has a list of these sorts of players.

So yes, every club passed on him plenty of times, all I was doing was pointing out the fact that he trained with you.

Geelong drafted poorly (as they rely on the father & son).

Crows drafted OK with Griffin & Hinge.

Everyone except Weagles missed Priddis.
