Merge the Furies and Old Boys brands.

Players go to Hawks. Sorted.

Should've always been a rebrand.
just get rid of the deadwood teams that haven't been able to win a premiership, teams who are unable to win premierships are just dragging the standard of our qooty down

HEY!

Taking into consideration that clubs have different expectations, agendas and values, it makes sense to assume we don’t all want the same things.

What does it matter who has the bigger numbers of posts or posters? It’s up to clubs to decide if they’re wanting more or less?

So I calculated the average number of posters each team had for each round last season and compared it with this season, so teams can see whether they’re growing their active weekly number of posters … or perhaps engaging a bit less for whatever reason … or *holding steady?

*Less than 1 different is taken to mean holding steady
  • Demons - ave 20.1 posters/wk S40 … WAS 20.8 in S39 … holding steady
  • Warriors - ave 19 posters/wk … WAS 16.8 in S39 … UP
  • Bears - ave 18.2 posters/wk … WAS 20.5 in S39 … DOWN
  • Bombers - ave of 17.3 posters/wk … WAS 18.1 in S39 … holding steady
  • OOBs - ave 17 posters/wk … WAS 17.2 in S39 … holding steady
  • Royals - ave 16.3 posters/wk … WAS 16.5 in S39 … holding steady
  • Wonders - ave 13.8 posters/wk … WAS 13.5 in S39 … holding steady
  • Gumbies - ave 13.8 posters/wk … WAS 10.8 in S39 … UP
  • Roys - ave 12.5 posters/wk … WAS 16 in S39 … DOWN
  • Dragons - ave 12 posters/wk … WAS 10 in S39 … UP
  • Swamprats - ave 11.5 posters/wk … WAS 9.9 in S39 … UP
  • Hawks - ave 9.8 posters/wk … WAS 12 in S39 … DOWN
  • Furies - ave 9.3 posters/wk … WAS 12.5 in S39 … DOWN
There’s still a few weeks left so it could yet change a little by the time the season’s ended.

Thoughts?

I think it’s important to look at the league as a whole. Obviously posters like DemurePrincess aren’t going to play for a team like the Furies because they have different ideas on how to enjoy a match thread. The players that like to post more tend to stick together and play for the same team.

I think as long as the activity across the board is up as a whole, there’s really nothing to worry about.

Raw posting data notes for S37-S40 New

League-wide average “unique posters” per week/round …

S40 186.3 *Using Tonga Bob’s raw data
S39 194.6 *Using Tonga Bob’s raw data
S38 181.7 *Using AUR’s raw data
S37 198.6 *Using Big_Icky’s raw data

big_icky also did retrospective analysis for S34-S36

Those numbers don’t scream that the league is dying in any way shape or form. Less than 1/3 of a poster per team less than last season is pretty good, especially considering more posters are active on bigfooty in the first half of the calendar year as well.

It's picked up a bit in the last month.

Perhaps an obvious question is “what happened in S38”?
  • Admin issues ?
  • Post-Big_Icky impact ?
