WE'RE all discussing where we are as a team, and what we need to get back into premiership contention.

Paul Roos is also already talking about "preparing for our next premiership".

So when does our next premiership window open? Is it already open? What time is it on our latest premiership clock?

This question takes into account the corruption of drafts over the next few years.

no way 2-3 years i think we'll be pushing back up the ladder (if all goes smoothly) when most of our current younger players are hitting 23 - 26 no certainies for a flag obviously. forget the comprimsed drafts, they're going to effect 15 other clubs aswell its not like we're missing out while they're all getting ahead we just have to trust that our recruiting staff make the right calls. Some clubs seem to bounce back quicker then others WCE, Geelong, Sydney are clubs that never seem to stay down for 2 long while clubs like Richmond, Fremantle, Melbourne seem to that forever to get their s*** together.

3-4 years normally.
But because of other team's dominance aswell
5-6 as a result. In my opinion

Its always open, and if by chance it should close we should just smash it!

We potentially already have the nucleus of a very good team and could be challenging again in 2 years when Bolton, Goodes, ROK etc are still around. Most likely looking at another 3-4 though.

Watching the 05 Premiership just now, very sad to see just how many of them no longer play for us. Any chance we could trade Schneids and Dempster back? :(

Wow, daytime 05 watching! A bit like daytime drinking...:)

Could be sooner than we think, and depends in part on who (of the other teams) are on their way down. Geelong will be up for maybe 2 more years, then will start to cycle down, same Saints, maybe even Hawks? Carltank might be up there (finally) along with the Bombers, Adelaide...We might be heading back up in three years, but much depends on who we pick up this year in the draft, and how well we stand by the kids coming up now. Let's hope we don't chuck a Tigers and fall in a heap for years and years...

Can't remember any of those two doing much in that game! Maybe I'm wrong!!

From memory (havent watched the '05 GF for a few months), Schneids kicks the 2nd goal for us and doesnt do a whole lot more and Dempster plays on Cousins and gets the ball on the wing and swerves past Cuz and then delivers to Tadgh in the 2nd quarter when he kicks his goal from the sideline (that one was right in front of where i was sitting, awesome kick).

Schneids had a few great chances at goal and looked really exciting, and Dempster had a few great runs down the side, and like Swans120 mentioned, delivered a great pass to Kennelly.

You're kidding.

Dempster's barely played since we traded him, and we've got several better prospetcs among our younger brigade.

And Schneider??? Well, Vez will be doing that job, and doing it with a lot more class and consistency than Schneids.

Let's not get too misty-eyed. We won that flag as a great team of many parts; not all those parts are/were great on their own.

Schneider is doing well at St Kilda primarily because he's surrounded by a very good team, as was the case in 05. I think we're all aware that on his own he's no champion.

I'm happy to believe (for now) that the blokes we've got coming up from the seconds, largely, are potentially better than a lot of the younger blokes we had coming through in 04-05-06, including Schneids and Dempster.

Patty... Dempster played almost every game last year for the Saints and was consistently highly rated by them before doing his ACL... and you know what? As soon as he was right to go he got slotted right back into the Seniors! A team that hasn't lost!

So?

He was a disappointment for Sydney, and I think the passage of time has clouded people's memories of that.
