I feel like slapping Choppy!! What port is offering him is fair. Get with it, get fit, get you head together and earn it Choppy!!

******** me dead, I dont want to buy a new gursney and get another number .......if he goes, number 41 will be on my back.

WAKE UP CHOPPY FOR ******** SAKE!!

I feel he is being pretty selfish. Don't get me wrong I will be sad if he does go because he is a good player. I just think it's sad that he's thinking more about the money side. If he loved playing for Port that much he wouldn't be considering this at all :(

The fact is that describes about 90% of AFL players.

He should be selfish, after all Clubs are as well and that includes us.
However he should increase his value back to where it should be by playing the way that he can. At the moment it has slipped somewhat and only he can fix that.
He could always ask for a one year deal only and up his value by playing well before signing a better deal. Dewy did something like that as well IIRC.

Power management stick to your guns. There are too many AFL footballers who were signed to big contracts and played very little AFL football. A bas contract plus performance incentives would place Byron on a very attractive salary if he performs. If he doesn't he still earns $250 000 IF THIS IS LESS THAN THE REPUTED $350 000 THIS YEAR. I think players get a bit carried away with their worth. Byron has played some great footy but if he can't produce and he wants more ...sorry!!
$350 000 for 121 kicks, 39 handballs and 47 marks in 15 games??

A little of topic but has Dewy signed anpther deal for next year? I take it he has 'cos otherwise we would be hearing trade speculation I guess. Anyone know how long he signed for?

I'd be happy with a heavily performance based contract where he has the POTENTIAL to earn just as much as his current one. However he'll only get that if he pulls his finger out in most games, not every 4 or 5. If he had any integrity he'd ask for such a contract - I'm sure if he did Port would happily go for it.

According to the story in the Advertiser today about Pickett, they mentioned that Dewy had re-signed a contract but didn't mention for how long. This was kept quiet as it wasn't even mentioned on the Power website

Perhaps post it as a new thread?

it would be hard to play footy with a kangaroo in your ear i would think
Yeah, very true. All that noise from tin rattling, begging bowl shaking and incessant whining about being disadvantaged by geographical location and demographic would get kinda distracting, let alone annoying.......then there's the lawn mower as well.......

I believe Dew's new contract is for about 2-3 years.

Now Dew is one player we cannot afford to trade/lose... I can count the players that can hold their heads high after this year on one hand and Stewy is one of them. He's probably had one of his best years and he's too dangerous a player to let go.

Oh no doubt, Dew is an absolute champion and one of Port Adelaide's favourite sons. If he ever leaves the club via any way other than retirement, god help the Power.

Everyone knows that Choppy is my Fav player. I love the way he plays, how tough and hard he is, how he puts the wind up a player when they see him coming.......BUT this year, we the club or the supporters have not got the Choppy of 2004!!

2004 was by far his best season ever!! The contract port are offering to me seem's really fair. $100,000 plus about $4,500 for every match he plays in 2006. Play 22 games and earns an extra $100,000!!

The club and the player - Yes YOU CHOPPY, have to really look at what the tribunal as done to the game, and must understand where they are coming from. As Choco said, Choppy really became unemployable. Every hit, no matter how small is magnified a 100x more because of who he is. The plently system carries on now, and it can only get worse. Because as Choppy has said him self, if he has to change how he plays, he might as well give up!!

BUT, Choppy you know that is only one of the issues that has been your problem this year. Drinking, missing training.........Choppy, you just got lazy :( !! The Chop is losing his Chop, but wants more chop to take home........dont know where this manager is at, must be getting a fair whack of the deal.

And Choppy, if you have got lazy, I can see why you would seek Fremantle out as a club. They would take you, they will pay you the big bucks, and they will give you the hoilday you want. To ask to go to them (WCE have turned him down) shows he is looking for the easy road out. Really disapointing!!

So now, is it just the MONEY issue Choppy isnt it. Not the Club, not the young family you have in SA............JUST THE MONEY!! And yes, I know Choppy is like 90% of AFL footballers - Money!! Do they often think back to where they come from, and how little they had, how much they do have now....from doing some thing "they love to do for a job"........well so they say :(

Cos you took Salopek over him, great decision that one.
They didn't put `will injure every muscle in his body' on his draft profile when we got him.

I always say myself that any player no matter who he is ,if he hasnt got his heart in place for the club just let him go they will only be a liability.

I don't know that a Freo supporter wants to bang on too loud about great recruiting decisions ...
