if he's not ill make a second amendment to the bill of rights and adjust stk to our level to appease the constituents

but my half full glass has him kicking 3 again this week

2017

Bruce ave 11 disposals, 5 marks, kicked 36 goals

Stewart ave 12 disposals, 4.5 marks, kicked 22 goals

not worlds apart already

for the main target forward?

how many does he kick alongside Daniher and Hooker?

wonder how many Stewart assisted ( I don't know how to find such stats)
If you don't know how St Kilda worked their forward line last year then it makes your assertion even more astounding.

Would be interesting to see how he goes alongside them instead of Membrey and Riewoldt though I guess.

Yeah Bruce only kicked 63% goals more then Stewart.

Irrelevant for a forward though I guess.
It should be mentioned Stewart only played 16 games last year. Comparing then their 2017 pure goal average to 1.75 (Bruce) and 1.35 (Stewart), they are not too different.

That being said I agree with Boncer, Bruce is easily the better player. He is the main target forward and has played consistently well for 3 seasons.
Stewart gets the 2nd/3rd best defender and has one good .7 of a season. They don't really compare on that front, as exciting as Stewart looked last friday.

He really isn't though.

ive owned Josh Bruce in my keeper draft team for 2 years, pretty familiar with his style and output - I can see the two players being on par fairly quickly

you are punishing one player because he has had a shorter career, I'm using the blue sky to project

How does Hawthorne get a higher rating than Brisbane based on JOR vs Barrett? Barrett is a solid depth player taken as a rookie and O'Rourke has barely played for Hawthorn in what is to be his 5th season! Barrett played as many games last year as O'Rourke has for Hawthorne, who couldn't even get a game for them last year when their inside midfield was literally Tom Mitchell and Liam Shiels. That's it.

Probably underselling Richmond there.

Townsend completely changed their forward potency since he came in round 22. They've averaged 100 points since. They rarely scored above 100 before he came in.

GWS did well out of their trades with Collingwood. Got Heath Shaw for Taylor Adams and a couple of high first rounders for Adam Treloar. Collingwood got two, albeit good, players whose kicking leave a lot to be desired.

Pies also traded pick 25 in 2011 for a package that got them Jamie Elliott, Marty Clarke (who was out of the league at the time and looking to get back on a list) and a pick in the 60s.

Getting bargains on Elliott and Adams probably makes up for paying overs for for WHE and Treloar

Since when is it "good business" trading two fringe players (Tyson and Salem) for a bona fide future superstar of the competition (Kelly)?

2/10 for Melbourne

Pies screwed up by over paying for Treloar, two firsts for a guy that shanks it was too much. Adams is an even bigger butcher although got him cheaper.

Don’t want to go too hard on Pies, after gifting us Hartley and Stewart.

I never know when you are trolling any more!

Smith >> Steele
Stewart > Bruce

Bruce had a good first year but a poor second one.

our duds were free hits though, very little cost at the end of drafts?

No kidding...Bruce's form dropped after he signed a long term deal. It was pretty noticeable.

Fringe? Tyson has finished top 10 in Melbourne's BnF 3 out of the 4 years he's been at the club, including 2 top 5 finishes. The one year he didn't he was out injured for 7 games, otherwise he would have comfortably been top 10. Salem is also hardly fringe, he's considered best 18, and for good reason.

Only reason Tyson didn't play on the weekend was due to not wanting to rush him back.

Tyson was named an emergency on the weekend and did not play. Definition of fringe at the moment
Was named in the squad hoping he'd be fit enough to play, but it was decided he'd be unlikely to be able to play the full 4 quarters without getting injured on Friday. Bloke is definitively not a fringe player.

Strange as this may seem but I would say GWS have profited most as they have been able to off load several good or nor so good players while keeping a strong core group.

I pretty much agree with the OP's individual club assessments although I would say Richmond owe part of their premiership to GWS thanks to the role Townsend played in the GF.

Regards to Essendon, I think Smith and Stewart more than make up for the earlier pick ups so for us we have broken even.
