Some recognition for Robinson?

Mitch's great performance last night has been lost through the Henderson/Mclean slander. The guy was the only one to put his hand up and have a red hot crack at the game.

I think that we've found something great in him. Not a 30 possession per week guy, but someone that wont slump after a poor tackle or a misdirected kick. We have far too many guys that get down in the dumps when they make a mistake and this guy just got back up and kept firing. Good on him. :thumbsu:

Robbo was good but I think you forget Bower

Judd did alright? Yeah, if you count 95% of his disposals being ineffective and leading to opposition forward runs.

Absolutely insipid performance. To think that he'll be that rusty come round four scares the living hell out of me.

However, to be on topic -- Go Robbo. He's quickly become one of my favorites at the club. Love the way he attacks the ball. He's really becoming that Glenn Archer type courageous player that I thought he would when I first laid eyes on him. (For some reason Hungry Eyes is running through my head at the thought of him lmao)

Why would Judd be rusty come round 4 ? ...i presume he can play in the practice matches ...a bloke of his experience and ability should be fine.

Juddy will be less 'rusty' come round 4 this year than he would in round 1 any other year, and that's not too shabby at all.

Mitch was easily our best on Saturday night, no one else even came close. He was everywhere, not to mention his important goals at the start. Everyone should be taking a lesson from Mitch. Bit of intensity and heart.

Let's not get carried away. Both Bower and Robinson performed well in what was a completely forgettable and largely irrelevant game. No great need to compare the two.

Was happy with Robinson's game...the tenacity we know about and come to expect, and his stationary kicking seems fine. I would just like to see a little more polish on his disposal in traffic. Will hurt a lot of teams if he can tidy up in that area.

The other big plus for me was Grigg's first half, probably moreso the first quarter. Looked Judd like at times with his ability to free the arms and get a telling posession at the stoppages. Played a level above anything I have seen from him before and I'd like to see a little more.

Robinson's fierceness at the contest was noticeable in a game where most of Carlton's better players had a very mediocre go.

Whilst our overall performance was disappointing, you also have to take a close look at what happened. If anyone thinks Judd has forgotten how to play football, or Gibbs has stagnated, or Kreuzer may struggle to influence a game... take a look at where these guys played most of the game. Out of position. Take a look at how hard they went -> not very.

I think the Blues went into the game trying new structures, giving B-grade and secondary players primary roles, and letting the A-graders tootle around the ground for the run. Bottom line, I'm not terribly concerned about the result, or the performance. If this were a Premiership Season match, I think Ratten might have pulled the trigger on Judd/Gibbs/Joseph/Kreuzer into the centre square a whole lot earlier than he did.

Back to the thread topic... Robinson is full-speed, all the time, no matter what. He is unusual on Carlton's list in that regard, and it meant he really stood out on a night where plenty of guys phoned it in. That's his value to the Blues, as an extroverted sparkplug of a player, who can crash in and do damage. I hope he has a really good year tearing around the half forward line, laying the body. Maybe he can iron someone out Byron Pickett style. :thumbsu:

Dont forget Heath Scotland. Take away the couple of marks he put down and he had a very good game also.
Garlett was terrific in the first quarter.

Garlett roved Henderson's contest beautifully at pace.

Won a contested ball at a stoppage on the wing, kept running and got it back to hit it up Yarran for that point on his wrong foot.

Was it Garlett that passed the ball to Robinson for his goal from the square?

Ten are so crap, all they showed was replay after replay of Mclean snubbing Kirk and making it out like he shot Bambi.

I think it was Garlett.

It's funny how Garlett and Yarran are at the back of the pack in the running at training, yet they're first to the ball and more effective than players with bigger motors.

Robbo is a bit like that too.

It is hard to see Eddie, Yazz and Garlett in the same 22 isnt it, which is a shame i reckon.
Robbo will be anything if he keeps his focus.
His body will take a pounding too, so he may have a few weeks off during the year sore

I thought little Brownie played a fair game as well , his first half was very impressive ,, hard and tough .. If we back this kid in over the next couple seasons he'll become a beauty..

I saw that. you saw that, Ratten saw that but some see it quite different it seams.

I have noticed one major aspect of Robbo's kicking action from the two games I've seen him play... he is timing his kicking better... his kicking is becoming more penetrating. He is also alot more balanced and is more structured when he has the ball... rather than just bombing it and rushing it... I have real high hopes for him...

Double Yep. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Love robbo's style but I think ratten is going to slowly kill this kids game. A few times it looked like robbo wanted to go but stopped and kicked or handballed sideways. Please ratts let this kid loose.

Yeah I was impressed with Browne because he seemed to work very well in the defensive structure. People keep saying his disposal wasn't great but honestly neither was Judd's, Scotland's or even Gibb's so I am not that worried
