There is so many bad things to write about with todays game, thought I might add the positive spin..

Walker, he showed his true potential today, was very smart at certain points, the tap before he was smothered and the body a few times he used, specifically when Stevens ran in to miss the goal and the mark in the last qtr.. He will be truly awesome in a year or 2 time, cant beleive poeple were asking for him to be dropped, must have been the first time he spent this much time on the groung, what happened, he amassed about 8 scoring shots, pity he didn't kick 6, has such a beautiful kicking action, that post must have a magnet, he cant miss the posts at the moment..

Rising star this week?? Who else could take it from him?? He was in our top 3 players today, just behind Thompson maybe? Wasnt many more you could even say played well.

There was certainly plenty of manlove for him in the Fox commentary box..

He was sensational today.
Leading at the right times, taking contested marks, could and probably should have kicked 6 or more goals today.
We were a rabble without him. Especially when we had Tippett in the ruck all day in the absense of another competent ruckman (which Moran isn't)

That and the more attacking gameplan.

Pity it wasn't executed well:o

Ziebell has been very good and consistant this season and deserves to get the nomination this week too. And he probably will due to the Victorian factor.
But the way Walker played today really needs to be rewarded. Had he kicked straight in the first quarter, he would have 6 or 7 goals and would be a shoe-in for the Nomination.
The way he played, I'd be impressed for even a seasoned veteran to have a game like that. Contested marks, strong leads, overall good kicking, and he had a real presense about him on the field. He seemed pretty vocal when others took marks and were lining up for goal (Tippett/Moran/Dangerfield)

Ziebell is a gun. But I reckon the fact the he plays midfield and is consistent means that Walker will get the nod this week. Ziebell got 20 touches this week, he'll probably get 20 touches next week and the week after... he'll get his chance

But there will be stuff-all Rising Star eligible players who will kick 4 goals in a game this season. So I reckon Walker will be this round's nomination.

Ziebel was good, however playing in the midfield he only had 5 more touches then Walker.

7 scoring shots for 4 goals plus 2 score assists tips it Tex's way

And you have to consider the importance the AFL places on the back story.

I get the feeling the NSW scholarship player thing may just clinch it;)

Hope he gets it. He was our best player behind Thompson IMO. The Victorian factor with Ziebell doesn't bother me because Dangerfield won it in round 3 over Whitecross (who had 29 disposals and 10 marks or something).

Walker looked great today and he just needs to find his feet in the AFL, I also couldnt believe the calls for him to be dropped. No point putting talented youngsters who are within their depth on the selection merry-go round and expect them to develop as well as they could by playing each week.

Walker would have boosted his confidence and learnt about a 1000 times more today against the bullies than he would have running around the ressies in the SANFL due to Norwood having a bye.

Craig gave him more time on the ground and it paid dividends today, last week Rowe said that Walker was only in the forward line for 16 of Adelaide's 51 inside 50s last week and when you think that he was 1.2 in that game means that 1 in 5 of those entries he managed to kick a score.

The guy can lead, take a good mark and has a good kick, it's upto us to continue to show faith in this kid. There will be ups and downs, but I think he has all the tools.

He was really good today.

I like what Tippett is doing too. He's really starting to show why the coaching staff rate him so highly.
Kurt Tippett is VERY underrated.

Has had 86 touches this year, 53 contested (most at our club).

I'd say thats almost the highest ratio of contested possessions in the AFL - 61%.

I was looking up some league stats today and from memory, Walker is sitting 12th overall in the league for scoring shots.

I know he's hit the post a whole lot of times as well, so it's not as though he's a bad kick.

From memory he was equal with one of the greatest forwards ever; Lloyd in the goal kicking.

Beating a superstar like Pavlich.

Beating a potential superstar like Hawkins.

I've been following Walker closely, he is looking like becoming a great football story.

And I was hearing the calls for him to be dropped, I think it's important to remember that this kid has just played his 7th game.

I know how much you Crow fans have been hyping him, but... dare I suggest it... he actually deserves more hype!

I haven't seen any highlights from this weeks game, so please, post a link to a youtube video if someone has one. But I am thankful that he played his best game for you guys.

I want a new hero.... and this kid is a very likely type!

Good point! A perfect opportunity for the AFL to publicly pat themselves on the back for an innovative program.

He's just a pure footballer. It's great to see a kid who is a footballer with a football brain above athlete. he knows when to lead, when to block and when to protect the space where the ball will drop. That can't be taught, you either have it or you don't. And doesn't he love a goal, double fist pump late in the game when the game is gone, he has a real passion for it which hopefully continues. he will kick a bag one game this year no doubt, his kicking will click and you can see him getting a 7-8 easily against the right opposition.

Besides the obvious points made by the posters before me, what also pleased me was the small stuff he would do. Like each time someone was having a shot at goal he would go give them advice and encourage them. Although judging by our early goal kicking maybe he would have :D;)

any highlight videos for those of us unable to even see the freaking game

Working on getting the game up at the moment, it's probably a good day or two away though.

And of course the goals will all make my Taylor Walker goals video in a week or two (depending on how many he kicks this weekend :p)

I was extremely impressed how he was going over and giving them advice on their shot on goal and just making them relax and take their time. He needed someone last week to run over and calm him down when he kicked the footy across his body after taking the mark in the pocket.
