Okay - new music thread.

Thought I'd start a thread so that people could ask for explanations about songs and their meanings.
Sometimes you hear a song and think wtf is that about?
Here's where people can explain it to you.

My first song is Blur's Song Two.

Now wtf is that song about?

Please explain.

Anything by The Doors.

Jim Morrison the poet? More like a junkie who strung words together at random, which only made sense to people whose brains were as fried as his own.

A junkie would have produced more poetic stuff than Jim Morrison, he's just a drunk who liked to wackoff on stage.

What does that kelly rolland mean when she sings " even with my boo" or some crap like that in her song with nelly. Is it just an attempt to make it sound good?

Aha, I can answer that one; a 'boo" is apparently what the g's in the ghetto call their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Ah, ok. I'd been wondering about it whenever I heard it, kind of annoying. Cheers:)

How the hell did Shannon Noll get a recording contract?
At least we can all feel smug in the knowledge that the talentless git wont make a cent out of said contract.

He may however get a few bucks out of Who magazine in a couple of years when they do their annual "where are they now" feature.

Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz by Mr. Bungle. Whats all that about?

Wonderwall?

Noel Gallagher re-entered a studio over the festive period to re-record the track and sources close to the band have told NME that the new version is "completely different" to its studio predecessor, with Noel singing instead of Liam. The new version is believed to have been inspired by Ryan Adams, who covered the song recently in his live set.

Noel recently commented: "I never got my head round this song until I went to see Ryan Adams play and he did an amazing cover of it. So now I'm going to cover one of my own songs in the style of Ryan Adams."

An Oasis insider told NME: "Since he saw Ryan Adams playing his song in a completely different way, it's rejuvenated his interest in it. It's given Noel a way to make it his own again."

Since his comments, Noel has been playing an acoustic version of the song live - although that proved controversial. On last December's UK tour, he kept aborting it halfway through, insisting fans at the arena gigs didn't sing along. When they did, he stopped, prompting jeers at some shows, and a plethora of letters of complaint to NME.

Given the lyrical content, most assumed 'Wonderwall' was a love song, penned in tribute to his then girlfriend Meg Mathews, and that was why he became disillusioned with it.

After the couple split in 2000, Oasis rarely performed it live, but only recently did Noel claim the "meaning of that song was taken away" from him by the media, and it was never about Meg at all.

He told the BBC: "How do you tell your missus it's not about her once she's read it is? It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself."

Sorry, a bit long winded, but there it is. Imagine demanding that people do not sing along to their biggest anthem.

Absolutely anything sung by Tori Amos.

Now there is one whacked out chick.

thanks for the wonderwall story. thats one song cleared up......now can anyone tell me about Song 2 by Blur...after all that is the reason i started this thread

I heard Song 2 was something to do with Kurt Cobain. But that's all I know.

How about these:
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
Revolution 9 - Beatles
Wannabe - Spice Girls
MacArthur Park - whoever that was

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (From what I gather, somebody's about to get executed. But what has Galileo got to do with it?)

A Day In The Life - The Beatles (Genius. Similar to when you're talking with someone who knows their stuff, and you don't know your stuff, but you don't want them to know that. So you nod your head and agree, knowing that what they're saying is genius, but having absolutely no clue what they're talking about.)

Hotel California - The Eagles (this bugs me. The idea of a place that looks great but you can't leave has to be a metaphor, but I don't have a clue what it is.)

It's about a brothel. Probably guilt as well, but mostly a brothel.

I doubt this is true. I've heard many theories including prison, drug addiction, and devil worship, but the most plausible theory is that it's about fame, it's trappings, and how hard it is to go back to anonymity. The actual hotel they are referring to is most likely the Beverly Hills Hotel as it is pictured on the cover of the album.

Don Henley has been asked many times of the meaning and apparently he is pretty vague about what it is about.
