If my grandmother had wheels she would be a bicycle

She still did pretty well running all that way in the Tour De France with someone on her back

Don’t care for NRL but I image the South Sydney Rabbitohs would have really loved them coming in and taking that name.
What about the Sydney Roosters?
I'm sure they were happy about an Aussie Rules team moving in and adopting the Sydney name.

The club was founded in 1908 in Paddington, Sydney, as Eastern Suburbs; in 1995 the club's name was changed to the Sydney City Roosters, and in 2000 to the Sydney Roosters.

Lots of missed opportunities over the years and this isn't one.
one missed opportunity was Fitzroy, they should have relocated to Brisbane in 1987... they were stubborn then got taken over in the end.
Could have taken ALL their history/premierships etc to Brisbane as South did to Sydney.

Another Missed opportunity was at the end of 89 was to cull/merge clubs before going into the AFL era. 1990 and beyond should have looked like this (this is if Fitzroy relocated to Bris in 87)

Collingwood
Carlton
Essendon
Geelong
Hawthorn
Richmond
Sydney
West Coast
Brisbane/Fitz Lions
Melbourne/North Melb merger
St Kilda/Footscray merger
1990 Adelaide FC come in that year

1994 Port Adelaide & Fremantle
2011 GWS
2012 Tasmania

*Gold Coast should never had been granted a license
