Spectating at the TDU

Hey,

I am heading over to Adelaide for the TDU and will be going to stage 1 & 2. Never been to a road cycling race before and just wondering if anyone has any tips on the best place to watch the stage and other information like that? Any info would be much appreciated

best viewing point in on a turn/curve...you see them comming towards where you are, make the turn and go away

try and get their as early as possible...i went an 2hrs before and i still had to find a good vantage point....its going to be madness now lance armstrong comming to town

the finish is obviously pretty popular, but you'd want to be there a good few hours beforehand to get a decent possie, otherwise perhaps on a bit of a hill or something?

roostersgal is right though, don't underestimate the attraction of Lance

If your going to the 51km classic in the CBD on the sunday night you will want to get a spot early. Would expect over 100k to see that.

Get to a KOM point. Moving slower (well a bit, the KOM's in TDU arent that tough).

TBH, you go to a road race to get into the vibe of it all and then watch the highlights at home. When ive gone to the Tour ive had NFI what has happenned in the race and have had to watch it on TV that night, but boy, did i have an awesome day either way!

Decided to go the cancer classic last night. Rocked up at about 6PM (1.5hrs before start time) and there were plenty of spots close to the fence. We were situated just after the start-finish line. Was a great race and it was good to see an Aussie win it

I thought it was a terrific race in front of an estimated 138,000 people. Never have I seen so many people on the opening night. Normally along the back straight there are so many empty spaces. Last night though it was 4 or 5 people deep around the whole course.
