Would be a reasonable heater on Bluey's arse too you'd think for next season
Other than Blighty, if we're travelling badly mid season and want to pull the pin on Bluey would we really hand over the reins to Josh Fraser or Matty Primus?
I don't think so.
Sando on the other hand............

Im doubting Josh will even be a coach for us next year.

hearing whispers out of the club that he's gone, decision has been made, i have more than one reliable source at the club, so far, got it from one, and am awaiting confirmation off another two, who i won't pester until tomorrow... having said that, who gets the job? brett ratten anyone?

in b4 bomber

Seriously though, I have no idea. I doubt the club would want to risk it all again on an unproven coach should they get rid of Bluey.

Not looking good for Bluey

McKenna, whose contract expires at the end of next season, faces a critical meeting with the Suns’ board tonight.
Following an internal review of the club’s football department, general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft will present the findings to directors.
The Australian has learned the findings relating to the senior coach are not kind. The recommendation is that McKenna should be replaced.

Pretty sure its the first time it been said that the reviews recommendation is that McKenna should be replaced.

I'm actually missing a lot of the article I think. Would you mind quoting it on here for us :)

Not a problem here you go
BRENTON Sanderson’s sacking yesterday could accelerate the demise of Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna.

Gold Coast may react to the Crows’ surprise move yesterday and sack McKenna as early as tonight.

McKenna’s position came under pressure when the board lifted its expectations of what the current playing list could achieve this season.

However, following the season-ending shoulder injury to champion Gary Ablett, the Suns lost six of their last seven home-and-away games to slip out of the top eight and finish 12th.

After winning seven of their first nine games this year, their capitulation included losing matches against the Western Bulldogs and Brisbane in consecutive weeks.

If McKenna survives tonight’s scheduled meeting, that is no guarantee he will coach the club next year.

Before this season, McKenna, the Suns’ inaugural senior coach, won 14 of his first 66 games. It was expected the club would blossom in 2014. They won 10 games.

Seems to be a lot of "such and such has learned" and "So and so is led to believe"

While I am of the belief the board will crumble to all this media crap and move him on, until I see something more definitive then what is being said I wont believe that the journos really know what is going on.

They're not scared to name Ashcroft as a key person, but can't give one quote from him?

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide want to lure disgruntled ruckman Paddy Ryder from Essendon, describing him as a fantastic potential recruit.

Ryder’s future at the Bombers is in limbo despite him being contracted to the club for another two seasons.

Ryder is considering activating a clause that allows him to break his contract because of health fears from Essendon’s 2012 supplements program.

Port are courting the 26-year-old, who has met Brisbane Lions officials and also is reportedly a target of other clubs, including Greater Western Sydney.

Power captain Travis Boak backed his club’s bid for Ryder, a 170-gamer for Essendon.

“Paddy is a fantastic player and I think any club would be lucky to have him,” Boak said.

“I was lucky enough to play over in Ireland in the under-17s (International Rules series) with him and he’s a fantastic person.”

Ryder’s ability to ruck and play as a dangerous forward looms large in Port’s thinking as they seek support for their leading tap-man Matthew Lobbe.

“It would certainly add a fair bit to our team,” Boak said.

“Lobbe has done a lot of the work this year and it would certainly help him out.

“We have still got (ruckman Jarrad Redden), who is coming back from a knee injury as well, so we have got a bit of stock there.

“To add another one into the forward line would be fantastic. Just the type of player he (Ryder) is, he could add a lot all over the ground for us.” Boak says there is no sense of satisfaction at reaching a preliminary final. Starved of finals for so long, the club is greedy for more September success.

The Power meet reigning premiers Hawthorn in Saturday’s preliminary final, a fixture Boak could only dream about three years ago when Port missed the finals for the fifth season in a row.

“We’re certainly not satisfied at all,” Boak said. “Three years ago, we wanted to get better … and make sure we played finals. And now we’re not happy just playing finals — we want to go all the way. We’re not satisfied until we’re able to achieve something and that is the ultimate goal in winning a premiership.

“We are certainly going into this game knowing that we haven’t achieved anything yet.”

It's all very well sacking Bluey after 6 years.
But you have to have something better to replace him with
I could really only come up with two and that was Voss and Thompson
Anyway, life's tough as an AFL coach
What I find perplexing though is the team selection in the last half after Gaz went down.
You would swear with some of the selections Mckenna was still being encouraged into "blooding players" mode
Quite obviously it now seems the Board wanted results
Why he wouldn't have been playing Warnock Hunt(don't tell me he was injured BS) and Murphy over Sumner et al just beggars belief

Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna, with one year remaining on his contract, had been identified as the mentor most under pressure in the lead up to Thursday night's Suns' board meeting.

While that club's season also ended poorly, it is expected the board will not move on the coach this week, but could announce a review of the Gold Coast football operation, with any decision on McKenna left until after that.

I think it will be funny when most people on here realise that this was all just a beat up and pretend to be behind Bluey again. Then after the first preseason loss start calling for his head again.

Getting the impression the AFL & the Board want to review the ENTIRE Suns football operation not just McKenna's Job
