Opinion Speculation over - Eade Coach

Max, correct. Eade took on a list at both the Bulldogs and Swans that were middle of the field list and in those days especially, there was a belief of a five year window to grow and make the finals and GF. This 5 year window somewhat still exists in todays game but Eade would must be licking his lips at the oppurtunity to take on a list like ours.
If he does get the job, I feel he will take us to the next level very quickly. He is one for attacking footy from the backline, is good on defence plans, and is a master tactician. He will improve our kicking skills to be more precise and teach our list how to stop easy turnover of the ball.
He did the above at the Swans/Bulldogs.....go to u tube and have a look at some of the finals games the Swans/Bulldogs played.It is more then evident.
As for being 56 and 3 years out of coaching, big deal, don't tell me the game has past him, what a load of crap, and if he has good assistants around him as well as Ashcroft and Blight to support him I feel we might be on a good thing here.

Just had a look at Eades coaching record. He has a win ratio of 54 % over some 314 games as coach. Now that % is right up there with this number of games coached.(314).
He took the Swans to a GF , and the Bulldogs to 3 prelim finals in a row, where he had this 5 year window confronting him full on with the Bulldogs playing list at the time.
Also, his final year as coach of the Swans was 2002. He took on the Bulldogs in 2005. So an absence of 3 seasons before returning to the big time.Going by this, the game had not past him at all, and so is the case now.

Eddie just had another 5min rant.. Too long and to indepth to write up.. Just about poaching management staff if this was in anything else Collingwood would sue Gold coast... And that collingwood are paying 1million in tax this year for spending over the cap.. And gold coast and brisbane will recieve some of it from the AFL and have used it to get Beams and now possibly Eade

Whilst Mick had already said he was leaving for Melbourne for "family reasons" then was Coll coach, IMO I am certain you are right to a certain extent.

*EDIT* -- In my 1999 GF Record, in August Mick was announced as Coll coach yet they didn't seem to say the "reason" why he was leaving. So I think you are right.

Not hatin' Eade cuz he's old, Knights would be a better choice. At Ess, he was stead fast when the board and fans were questioning his game plan, he never backed down and was sacked because he wouldn't step down. He has recently coached Geelong's VFL side, so is as relevent, in footy naus, as Eade and Ayres. His game plan was attacking, built on gut running and were "always" a chance for finals with a ordinary side. When Hird/Bomber took over, they were able to squeeze out a finals apperance when they shouldn't have (just like Knights).

Just saying there are more viable options then just Eade, and this will be a monsterous cockup if Eade is selected as coach. And we might lose supporters in Qld and Oz because of this coaching appointment (whether or not Eade is coach).

Rocket is a very very good coach
He'll take the job because at 57yoa he's facing footballing mortality and somewhere inside he'll feel he deserves a coaching premiership
His record was a bit up and down at the Swans and Bulldogs TBH but he can only have got better over the years and has basically been running the football department at Collingwood.
I think there was some opinion that players bought in quickly to his style and gameplan on arrival but bought out just as quickly towards the end of both tenures at both Clubs
If he has improved as a Coach it will be seen in ironing out the peaks and troughs in his performance and getting the players to get on-board with him for the duration.

eddie on the radio this morning was classic. especially that bit towards the end where he was having a whinge about being "fined for running the football club well" (sure) $1mil so that brisbane and gold coast could poach beams and eade. so sour hahaha.

Today's courier mail says that if Eade knocks it back then it WILL be either Soloman or Lovell. I call BullS*** as no way would they appoint an assistant to Bluey when when Beveridge and Bolton are out there.

Personally I think Eade will say NO so I hope I am right as appointing a current Suns assistant could be as disastrous as "persuading someone that didn't want the job in the first place"
