He's got 1 year left to run on his existing contract now. Voss said today if he didn't find another club, he play at Carlton next year
What else could Voss say, it's clear other AFL clubs are well aware of Elijah's raft of off field issues

Would want to be a massive turnaround for him to play AFL at Carlton next year.

The problem for me at the moment is we don't really know what his indiscretions have been, beyond his conviction for coke on the Gold Coast

I've read quite a variety of:
He shagged Mackay's GF - which triggered his mental health problems
None of the playing group want anything to do with him - want him gone
Self reported in May for drug use - hence the 12 week holiday
Kicked out of the house he shared with his brother for his ongoing drug use
Shagged his brothers GF at house party and was kicked out of the house they shared
Has started dealing to support his habit

There's probably others I've missed
Some folk are suggesting it's more along the lines of the club giving him a massive wake up publicly (and clearly last chance)

Not sure what I make of all of that, beyond clearly there's a lot BS. He did finish up playing the last 2 games of the season in the VFL

I'm prepared to remain open minded about him atm

I haven't really watched much of Hollands play in the last few years. Has he actually shown anything to show he can become a quality AFL player if he can get his shit together off field?

He's good - Carlton (fans) were extrapolating him moving into their midfield more or less permanently after his 2024 season

So if we get him , it's probably best we don't introduce him to players girlfriends?

Obviously just rumours but if I was adelaide Id be asking a lot of questions to Carlton about his issues.

But if it comes back somewhat true, surely this is a player we avoid.

I'm open minded about it all atm without having any inside knowledge (beyond him being busted when up at the GC) of what's actually going on

Cheers, I guess we would want to make sure the risk was worth it and we thought there was something there to work with.

I think he needs a club with a lot more senior players, if Voss is legit saying publicly I don't like how he's handling himself off field that is a massive red flag and our club just can't afford more scandals.

On 1 hand I agree. On the other hand is it too much of a scandal after he's fallen out with 2 clubs prior

Didn't you want him over TT a month before the draft?

OOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

If you're talking this particular draft and we don't get band 1 for Brad I'd be taking Elijah Hollands with pick 1, different story if we have pick 2 also in which case I'd take a tall and Hollands.

Posted in the other List Managment thread , but Damien Barrett going with the story that Zac Merrett wants out of Essendon

Now he would be one to chase, if you recall was rumoured to have looked at joining Port previously, so a potential move to SA isn't an issue

For sure. It would cost big if there is even a sniff of a chance but he would really compliment what we have in the middle, right as our premiership window is beginning to open. Surely the lure of a possible flag works to our advantage should we try for him?

Have to ask the question

If he has been open to a move to Port previously then surely heading to us as we rise is a lure

If Hollands is being actively pushed out and Voss is saying these things publicly, you’d have to think he is likely too far gone.
I'd take anything Carlton representatives say with a grain of Salt. Especially coaches who are hanging onto their job by a thread.

But having said that, yeah it was fairly damning words for Elijah's conduct off the field. You would imagine it would mean Voss has limited his options by saying those comments

Given the new AFL contract landscape Zac Merrett would probably be a $2M/year player to wrench out of Essendon. And all the draft picks.

Having said that, he'd be a player that like NWM, would take our midfield to another level
