I do sometimes wonder if you could go back in time and tell the club don't draft this player instead pick this one they turn into a champion.... Who do you pick? Would we have won Premierships if someone went back in time and said instead of Ken McGregor take Pavlich?

Jones - Butters
McAsey - Serong
Doedee - Burton

I reckon it’ll be Oliver or Petracca that we would get. I’m more leaning towards Oliver.

The advantage of Oliver is there would be less competition from other clubs. He really wouldn't be that in demand.

I am keen on Archee assuming it means he allows Rankine or Rachele more midfield time but I still think as long as we have a good injury run by the end of 2026 one of Keys or ANB will be playing SANFL.

I still can't envision a single scenario where Petracca ends up here. Oliver maybe, but his best is well behind him.

Stevens is whatever but Ah Chee makes us better.

Also allows us to retain likely multiple first round picks.

We wouldn’t get Petracca for free. I know we are desperate but you have to give up a lot for someone like him.
Oh don’t get me wrong I’d be happy with both

We need that extra impact mid badly, though

Been told an interesting rumour, even if it's at its first initial stages at this point.
A senior crows official has sat down one-on-one this year, more than once, with a high profile victorian coaching figure. Lips are sealed on any further details like names etc.
Made an enquiry with my source about whether a move to adelaide came up. Eyebrow raised, followed by “you’d be silly not to ask the question.”

So it's clearly very speculative at this stage. Could mean nothing. Only time will tell. Thought it was worth sharing regardless. Tis the sort of thing you'd hope the club would be getting up to in the background!

You are also assuming our coaches have the capacity to turn then into the player they are today.

We don’t have a good track record of developing midfielders who we are draft.

Dawson - Sydney
Rankine - Gold Coast

The rest have not shown much in the actual midfield

Yeah I don't want Brad Scott when Essendon sack him

Love juicy morsels. Obviously not probing rumour in anyway :) but would your personal definition of a “high profile Victorian coaching figure” contain anyone not on this list:

  • Clarkson
  • C Scott
  • Lyon
  • Simpson
  • Buckley
  • Longmire (not sure he even fits if living and coached NSW)

I'd suggest both Burgess and ANB would have been heavily consulted on their thoughts ....particularly Burgess on where Petracca's fitness gap is at

That IMO should help minimise the risk
Oh ...and I forgot to add, now that Goody is no longer connected with MELB ....and I believe he is still Roo's business partner ....you'd think there would also be a bit of IP tapping into Petracca going on
