I guess the good news is that McAndrew can dispose of the ball like someone that has played the sport before, and he looks decent in taps

He's 210cm though and doesn't seem to make use of that in the air
Isn’t that basically all you need a ruck to be? One of Darcy Fort or Rhys Stanley are about to to be 2-time premiership players

Fort has been great in the finals, Scott rates Stanley as one of his best players.

Those guys can mark the ball

The ball often hits McAndrews forearms in marking contests

I mean, I trust your opinion as you've seen him live and I've only seen video, but he does look very slow on video, nowhere near Cripps speed.

The other elements are great.

When was last time you saw him live? Was he as big as he is now?
Doesn't need to be super quick for the role he would likely play inside mid to get his hands on the pill and dish off and to to put blocks on the oppo mids for his mid teammates. He's always been a massive unit. We're talkinng a role player no more but with his bazooka boot put him in space he can be as damaging as Jordan Dawson by foot. I'd anticipate he'd be available for one of our 3rd rounders as I can't see the Cats playing hardball given he's obviously looking for more AFL gametime. What's to lose in that scenario for a ready to go midfielder.

That’s not great

But say, Fort only averages 1.9 marks a game, surely that’s a reachable enough target?

Possibly. I'll admit I haven't watched tons of him in the SANFL but most of his marks would be uncontested chest marks I reckon

I kinda already assumed that

Just depends how special

And if they don’t let him go, it probably makes Oliver more likely
I know the Gibbs history but I think this squad is different. Can afford to gamble one offseason without creating the need for a full rebuild - Draper, Curtin, Rachele, Thilthorpe etc are all young enough to continue pushing us up.

If it's a 3rd rounder, is a no brainer.

Let's just get done and move on.

It's a tricky one. Like what is a "special deal". Guess we find out shortly.

2026 crows without a midfielder coming in feels destined to fail.

"Special deal" - trade him to us for nothing

Have only seen his 2 AFL games was impressed with him banging up against Taranto and Hopper .
Gave me Jack Graham vibes, was disappointed when subbed out next game and not seen again
but still racking in the VFL.
No one else gets a look see when he puts his noggin over the ball either.

Twomey's draft ratings had him at pick 28 prior to the draft, Twomey's spiel is pretty spot on.
