I'm not Nicks fan but come on, that's stupid

Those two things would have been the overwhelming reason. Could also throw in playing at Adelaide Oval, maybe supporting Adelaide as a child as other factors.

Matthew Nicks had a poor record at the time. He would have had little to no impact on the decision. Players were not coming to us in 2021 and 2022 to specifically play under Nicks

Why are people so obsessed with the age of 30 still? It's clear that players with good professionalism are able to play well into their 30s these days without losing any of their strengths. Sports science has also come a long way with recovery techniques since even 10 years ago, especially with the advancement of AI.

Lachie Neale is 32 and was able to play in a GF after a grade 3 calf strain in less than 3 weeks due to the more advanced rehab techniques available to professional athletes these days.

Petracca is worth every ****ing cent. I don't know where people got the idea he's injury prone either, that's never been a problem since the ACL over 10 years ago. He's also never had any major soft tissue injuries.
30 is the new 28

To suggest that the head coach played no part at all in the recruitment of our two biggest gets in years is simply denying reality.

Then send it to Brisbane for Ah Chee.

Petracca and Ah Chee for 2025 1st and 2026 1st.
We should keep Melbourne's F2nd and send our own F2nd for AhChee, particularly if we think they'll be bottom 6 and us top 6

There is likely some truth in that, as is his strength at building relationships with the players, which has been noted by plenty over in the Vic media. It would be bloody weird if the senior coach wasn't meeting with a potential new player coming into the club.

No big name recruit close to 30 has ever worked out for us in the modern era, putting aside Jarman and possibly Pods, although he may not be a "big name" recruit.

Therefore, my concerns are more about how Petracca will actually go, should we get him, given the way he plays is based on power and burst speed. These would definitely be the first things to go as you get older.

We would also be relying on him heavily, so there no veteran resting here.

He's not like a Pendlebury whos game is more about timing and footballing smarts and vision.
It's completely about power and speed.

I think if we got him, we should trade with the expectation that he won't be the same player, well atleast not for long.
With Petracca, IF he didn't work out in the middle, he can certainly go forward and take that 3rd tall forward slot

He would have met the players, but it wouldn't have been a significant factor

Ive stated before I would be using Dawson and Petracca as swapsies

It wouldn't matter who was coach in a rebuild .....have players flocked to Clarko's Nth MELB, no ......will anyone go to ESS currently, no

You're confusing the Coach with where a Club is at, re being in contention for a flag .......if players are now considering, and have, it's a duality of factors, the Coach & The Club

No player will play for a Coach they don't respect, and believe has the tools to win a flag ......Petracca as an example has Hardwick at the Suns as an option ......so according to your views, the Crows are no chance of landing him

He played a part, a very small part that's not very significant.

Very different to suggesting Nicks convinced Dawson and Rankine to come. The main factors doing the convincing were money and go-home

With Petracca we don't have any of that to fall on. No money reason, no go-home, no big stadium pull (versus many other clubs), no childhood factor.

We literally do need Nicks convincing Petracca this time. As a coach he is a big part of our potential success which is the only reason Petracca would come here.

Agree with the first three steps, not sure two thirds will get us in Latrelle range though

In: Petracca, Ah Chee, Stevens, 3rd, 3rd/Stevens, Borlase; McAndrew, Jones; Cotton
Out: Walker, Crouch, Smith, Murphy, Strachan, Jones; Borlase, Schoenberg; Gallagher

Would be happy with that
I wonder how many of Latrelle's games these folk talking him up have actually cast their eyes over?

Wasn't named as an upgrade from the State Combine to the National with the recent upgrades unless I missed it?

I'd go Petracca, Dawson, Rachele as first ruck.
Soligo, Rankine, Peatling, Curtin as others rolling through.
Petracca as ruck

Ok lets do it

More likely, Curtin interchanging with Dawson ......and Rankine interchanging with Petracca .....or even Rachelle with Petracca, who are more like for like
