Split Innings Shelved

Yeah I liked the format but the best thing for our international team is to be playing the same format domestically as they do internationally.

Very strange that they experimented with it in a world cup year though. Not that it would have made much of a difference.

can sort of understand why they fiddled with it, even if i thought it wasn't a great idea. reports on the death of the 50 over game, etc. like the WC showed though, such a fundamental change is unnecessary to keep the game interesting.

I actually liked it, however it was never going to be used in ODI games is the excitement for me was the teams going for the bonus point, something that they couldn't put into ODI series. I think 50 over is a dead format regardless, even as a big cricket fan I often find overs 15-40 very boring.

I thought we tried twilight Shield cricket several years back? Orange balls, perhaps?

I suppose we still have try and attract Shield crowds somehow. maybe this will work - probably not. The concern is that if we change our first-class comp too much, it becomes too much of a different game to Test cricket.
