Why dont we?

I know a few among us already put their hands in their pockets and do sponsor players...but what about the rest of us?

And can we come to some agreement? :p Maybe an interstate recruit so there is no SANFL bias.

Can we get some info from the Mods or Chief on how to go about this and get it up and running for 2007

I'd be up for that, think player sponership generally is around $800 a year dont quote me on that, so if you got say 10-15 people it wouldnt cost that much per person and I think as a reward BF should allow those people to have free membership for a year:thumbsu:

When we were considering player sponsorship with the AFC, it was around $3000 per season and you didn't have a choice of player and you were not going to get a captain.

Team sponsorship is half the price but gets you slightly less than a player sponsorship.

Its a fair bit dearer than $800 and as I understand it, those sponsorships are hard to get at the AFC.

Thanks Stiffy

$1,150 for a single entity and apparently BF kick in $200 so $950 to go

I can do $50-$100 if anyone wants to join in
Thats $1,150 for additional single membership. As I understand it, player sponsorship caters for 2 people. You can't get a single ticket. In other words if there are 3 people in the family and all 3 want to be team sponsors then they would pay $2,450 + $1,150 = $3600. If only a single person wants to purchase this sponsorship he/she still pays $2,450 but gets 2 memberships.

You can't get a player sponsorship for only $1,150 ;)

Holy jeezus, sorry stiffy I was thinking of the packages they offer Victorian members:o Well we need just about everyone from this board to get involved as I said Im keen:thumbsu:

I'm going to throw it out there, why?
Good question

To show that we are not all talk...to show that we do have a commitment to the AFC..to help a new recruit know he will be bagged then instantly recognised as a future star before he gets bagged on the way out.

What does it actually do though?

Where does all that money go?

Maybe it pays for our recruiting team's nice hotels and brunches during trade week...

Speaking from a Carlton sponsorship point of view. The money goes to the club not the player. We have two levels of sponsorship per player, player partner and player sponsor. With the higher level, you get a few extra things like advertising for a company (if you are one) and a player appearance at your workplace or social event.

For the player sponsor level, we got Josh Kennedy for $1995. This netted us two invitations to the guernsey presentation dinner, two invitations to another function, a signed guernsey and two gold memberships. We do a free raffle for the goodies amongst the contributors, put the sponsor title under their username and anyone who pays over $20 gets a free BigFooty subscription. We always donate our memberships to the Starlight Foundation and last year made a young girl's wish come true in doing so. It's a real feel good thing to do.

Basically all players are sponsored at two levels and that sponsor can extend the sponsorsip every year for the rest of their career if they want to. When you get in for the first time, you are competing with other prospective sponsors and existing sponsors for the remaining players AND the new draftees. Top 10 picks cost more to sponsor than late picks or rookies. For memory TBV was able to sponsor Daniel Batson as a rookie for about $800 or something so lower level sponsorships are available.

If your player gets delisted, you and other sponsors of delisted players then get first choice of new or lapsed players before new sponsors. So TBV had Karl Norman and Daniel Batson, then when Norman was delisted, we let the Batson one go and we and existing sponsors had the first choice of the new draftees. We asked for either pick 1 or pick 4 last year and after the draft, the club offered Josh Kennedy. We are hoping to be associated with Josh for the duration of his career which should be lengthy.

All from individual contributions between $25 and $100 plus $200 startup from BigFooty which is offered up for all player sponsorships.

Give it a go, gives you are real sense of being part of the club.

Cheers TODN

So each raffle is a separate issue? And does the raffle money go to the Charity?

Raffles are separate but there is no extra money involved. Anyone who contributes to the sponsorship goes into the draw. Basically $25-49 gets one entry, $50-99 gets two entries, $100-149 gets 3 entries ... and so forth. I am the contact person for our sponsorship so I just ask contributors if they are available for the functions and put the interested names in a hat and get someone to draw it out. I am never in the draw so it is kept above board. I make sure that people don't win the tickets and give them away or onsell them though as they are representing TBV and BigFooty at these functions, so we don't want outsiders that could act badly and risk our sponsorship with the club.

Sounds like a ridiculous idea. Giving our hard earned money to the Club when they're loaded with cash as it is, so they can throw a few cheap morsels our way.

What a ridiculous comment. Yeah, let's do nothing to support the club, because the last thing we want is for them to be successful. It is not like the Crows are the Yankees - having more money that North Melbourne should hardly be considered the definition of success. It's like having better hair than Sideshow Bob.

I'm with Just Maybe, you already pay a membership fee and you owe the club no more. They are loaded and this virtually amounts to giving away money, I'm not in the habit of giving away money to rich organisations. At least the proper sponsors get something out of it, this has virtually no reward.
But don't let me stop you, would probably be better to donate to your local club or something. They'd love any injection of cash.
