Bit of a scoop. This is the squad for tomorrow night;

No real order-
Morton, Martin, White, Edwards, Nason, Cotchin, Foley, Batchelor, Dea, Rance, Riewoldt, Conca, Helbig, Post, Graham, Vickery, Deledio, Newman, Conners, Grigg
Houli, Nahas, Astbury, McGuane, Jackson

That should be 25... Only real surprises are no Tuck and Miller, while Nason, Dea and Post have made the squad of 25

TEAM imo:

FB... Rance... McGuane... Batchelor
HB... Deledio.. Astbury.....Newman
C.... Edwards. Martin.......Jackson
HF... Morton...Riewoldt.....Houli
FF... Nahas.... Vickery...... Post/Conca

Ruck Graham...Cotchin.... Foley

Int. Grigg... White... Conners
Sub: Conca/Post

Emg: Nason Dea Helbig

You named White twice. Tell me we aren't cloning 2 of him!!

Bingo. Was on my Iphone at the time so was hard to get them all down

So was it based on those that were in some sort of "main" group or something?

Would be my life savings on the squad ;)

Two different squads trained at different times. The first squad had white tops on and featured King, Tuck, Thurstfield, Grimes, Derickx, Miller, etc while the second group featured 25 players. Made it pretty obvious :thumbsu:

Good.

Sub White out for Helbig or Dea. Dea could play on Garlett or Betts and Helbig looks to be a dangerous small forward at this stage.

I'm happy that Post (should be) playing.

No Bower and Jamison means that Vickery, Riewoldt and Post might be able to stretch them down back against probably Thorton and Watson

My only concern with the going in tall option is the weather... gonna be windy and perhaps wet is it not?
1st game of the season, expectations/pressure could mean hands may not be as sure as they should be too.

I don't want to be 'bombing it in long' to our talls to exploit a perceived lack of height with the defence if marks are spilled and Carlton whisk it away.

Final squad and choice of 'sub' could tell all & be vital.

Is Tuck injured?

Big mistake going into the game without him. He is a guy who will dominate clearances and could hold down a spot in the forward line good mark and great set shot at goal.

Was written off last year and ended up what 4th in the BF?

Totally agree:thumbsu:..

dead set can we please have Derickx the Xman in at leat as a sub for more and luke ?

Helbig and Batchelor are doubtful as Conca was the only newbie named by Dimma just before to make his debut

Conca gets the nod

"We've still got to finalise selection, but it's a really positive step for our footy club that we've brought in three players that will definitely play, and possibly up to five," Hardwick said.

Have to wait and see I guess...

Sorry to take the thread off on a tangent but i really hate this figure of speech by commentators and then by extension the footy public.

My question is this ... Has there ever been an instance where a team with a supposedly 'short' backline has been measured after a game to see if any players have indeed been 'stretched'? I am pretty sure Carltons defenders will be exactly the same height after Thursday night regardless of which players are in Richmonds forward line.

;);)

From the online dictionary:

stretched
7.
a. To extend or enlarge beyond the usual or proper limits: stretch the meaning of a word.
b. To subject to undue strain: to stretch one's patience.

Proper use of English I'm afraid. :)

Rather Taylor for Nahas, but i like the squad....bit strange leaving Tucky out for rd 1 though, he is a clearance machine
