Squad v Collingwood

Nice changes.

It will be interesting to see what Scotty does with the sub again this week & my tip is he'll stick with LA on the pine as the offensive weapon. Last week the coach backed our mids to redeem themselves after their poor first half and LA came on late. I can't see that happening again & if we're getting pantsed, LA will see action much earlier.

Campbell should start and play most of the game and would be ineffective as a sub. Why? Because statistically he's had low numbers his whole career and will need time to get back up to the speed of the Big League. 59 games over four seasons with an average of 9.8 disposals and 1.1 goals per game suggests he won't be a mega weapon.

I'm not writing him off mind you, as I reckon he can be a headache for the opposition when he's firing. Poor bastard just needs a decent run with injury.

Agree with those saying Richo , Pratt and McMahon as the emergencies and it goes without saying that our whole backline has been a massive disappointment this year.

Whoda thunk it after looking like our best line a year ago. Spud is surviving on reputation alone at the moment just quietly and he needs to produce a big one.

They would be in Tarrant's ear. He is in the club's long-term plans but the club really needed to have a good look at Delaney and assess where he is at, they have to decide if he is going to be kept, if he is to be elevated. He needs a good two months in the AFL to have a good look at him. He has done a fantastic job to date, I am very happy for him.

I dont mind Tarrant playing regular footy in the 2's. Hes missed so much football with injury. So not a bad idea to gain his form & confidence at a lower level.
Hes been doing pretty good too by all accounts.

:stern look :p

The team changes are a self-admission that he lost the game last week on the Thursday, despite the spin.

But, thankfully he can see reality starring him in the face, unlike the Laidley era where we would have gone plodder-happy for a good four weeks before the penny dropped.

The only bloke form the 4 inclusions last week to be dropped is McKinley. Pratt and McMahon are still in.

So no plodders anymore?

Wow, Narni has had a shit season.

He was arguably our most important player last season.

Season from hell for Narni. Back surgery followed by finger surgery. Hardly had a chance to build any continuity in his footy.

Some time in the two's will do him good. Will be a vital player in 2012.

If Flash makes the team, he will not be the sub for two reasons.

1. He's very short. If one of our talls has an injury or is just having a bad game and we sub them off, then we're not replacing like for like.
2. If Flash does his hammy again (touch wood) after he is subbed into the game, then all of a sudden we are one down on the interchange bench.

LA did well last week, would not surprise if he is the sub again. And with the fitness of the magpies outfit, it would be good to inject pace late in the game.

I dont really understand your argument when he'd most likely come on in the 2nd half when a lot of the pace would have gone out and fatigue is starting to set in. He's quicker than most running all day, let alone when he has an hour less fatigue head start.

The rationale being that Flash has previously been a low posession winner at the best of times. Coming off a long term injury, Campbell will need some time to readjust to the pace of AFL footy & him coming on for a half won't cut it.

Anthony on the otherhand posts big numbers in a crucial midfield role, whereas Matty has primarily always played as a small forward. With Petrie being our main forward target it gives Flash the perfect opportunity to play a full game in a role we've been lacking all year. Flash gets crucial gametime and fitness, North gets a very good dangerous crumber who gives the opposition a matchup headache.

Anthony comes on and gives much needed late run and ball winning ability when others are tiring.

Wins all round.

^^ Plus if Flash starts and he cramps up, tires badly or god forbid does another hammy he can be replaced.

If he is blitzing then someone else can be subbed.

I think its safer and more flexible if Anthony stays as sub for this week again.

I can see your thinking but ill throw another one out there. I wouldnt be playing the same player multiple times as the sub. Since he's come back from being dropped Anthony's too good to be the sub again.
