I'm a little surprised Beams is playing in the VFL this weekend, although it might be just to play half a game, who knows.

EDIT: and I don't mind the inclusion of Corrie at all. Last week his endeavor, hardness and particularly his chasing and second efforts finally looked of AFL standard, would like to see him given the challenge of backing it up and continuing to work on his disposal.

While Corrie did OK last week, I'm not getting carried away with form against a below strength Richmond side.

He is at the club for "pure depth", nothing else, so unless we get a rash of injuries at some point of the year, I don't see Corrie playing at all.

On a good note, he will help the VFL side out.

I would be shocked if Dawes was a round 1 starter, unless he really impresses on the weekend.

Well they are at least giving him the Chance too - Hope he takes it

Absolutely agree, he would have to do something spectacular for him to get a game in the seniors this year. Just happy to see his hard work rewarded in a small fashion. That sort of application is something I have rarely witnessed from him since coming to the pies.

This yea for him is a make or break season. either will be a key starter in our forward line. or been dropped and maybe delisted by the end of his contract.

Also, when does his contract expire? because if he does become good for us and he contract expires soon he'll be heading off to gold coast or western sydney.

I would expect Dawes to play Rd 1 I think either him or Rus must be in the squad and obviously Rusling isnt going to play rd 1. Very young key position player this could be his year to show he is capable of being in our best 22, he was so highly rated in the draft.

that is a decent team - biggest misses would be Sidebottom and Beams - possibly Wood too (then again who knows with our ruck stocks at the moment!)

I would think Beams is playing VFL to get some mileage into the legs without having his young body smashed (especially considering the way he plays). It's a long season and he's still only a 2 year player. Need to nurse these guys through so they aren't burnt out come finals time.

I would have thought a certainty for round 1.
