Might have missed this, but did Rus play with the VFL team last week? If so, how'd he fare?
DIdn't play

hodgey n brown is injured like wood and sack, beams and sidey I'll assume have some kind of niggle

From reports my man Barham deserved another turn and glad to see them giving Buckley more games.

Collingwood has named an experienced squad ahead of Saturday afternoon’s NAB Challenge match against Port Adelaide in South Australia (Mt Gambier).

With the home-and-away season only two weeks away, the Magpie match committee has recalled several big names including Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Harry O’Brien, Scott Pendlebury, Dane Swan and Heath Shaw.

The squad of 29 players, set to be narrowed to 26 one hour before the match, will boast a full strength forward line comprising of Davis, Paul Medhurst, Leigh Brown, Chris Dawes and Travis Cloke.

If it was round 1 and those players were the players to choose from I would like to see this line up

B;Harry O, Presti, Toovey
HB; Shaw, Reid, Maxwell
C; Thomas, Swan, McCarthy
HF; Didak(m), Cloke, Davis(m)
F; Medhurst, Anthony, Lockyer
R; Jolly(F), Pendles, Ball
Int; Fraser(F), O'bree(m), Wellingham(m), Brown(F/B)

Outs; Corrie, Dawes, Barham, Buckley, Johnson, Cook, Macaffer

(m) for Dids and Davis means rotate through the middle as well and F for our rucks rotating foward at times

Could only see Beams or Sidey coming in for a MCcarthy/Wellingham or Reid/Brown depending on match ups

Think that gives us enough options to cover the Bulldogs Foward line

A forward line of Anthony, Brown, Dawes and Cloke. Will be interesting to see how that works.

I would have liked to see Sinclair in the squad instead of Corrie, even though Corrie prob won't play.
Sounds good, it will either be one of the best forwards in the comp or will be a bust.

Give Corrie a chance ffs.

Given the 3 out of 4 games view of the practice match would probably mean that 3 of Tarks, Reid, Buckley, Tooves, Wellingham and Presti may be rested as I think they have played all three so far.

They tried the tall forward line last week with Jack, Dawes, Travis and either Josh/Jolly. It was different but against the Tiggers not sure if you can guage the result.

Port will run the ball out better than the Tiggers but we still need to kick to our advantage of the talls and not go to Leon, Medders or Daisy as first options.

From reports my man Barham deserved another turn and glad to see them giving Buckley more games.

He played well last week. Was definately amongst the best. Loved his energy. Look slightly more composed, not yet polished but certainly improving which is a great sign for Barham fans.

Sidey & Beams have played the previous 3 games haven't they??

Stands to reason to rest them now. We have to remeber they are still only 2 year players and we don't want them running out of petrol towards the end of the year.

I'd expect definitely Beams, probably Sidey to be in round 1 team.

I don't recall seeing Beams last week, interesting he had only played 1.5 games in the seniors this preseason. They seem to be cotton wooling hi
, don't suppose it's such a bad thing as he is in for a big year.

Strong squad geared towards running into round 1 with everyone having a solid run in.

We seem to have managed our players well this preseason.

I'm glad the club are resting Beams and Rusty given they're just second year players and look likely to play big roles for us this year.

I wouldn't worry too much about Beams not playing. I reckon he's cemented his spot in the side already, Sidebottom probably not quite so much but considering he's being rested and not played in the VFL I think he's a good chance to be in for round 1.

If there is one thing we can't skimp on this week it's our forward line. Get the regulars in and get in functioning beautifully before round 1, particularly with some quality disposal in the side.

EDIT: and I don't mind the inclusion of Corrie at all. Last week his endeavor, hardness and particularly his chasing and second efforts finally looked of AFL standard, would like to see him given the challenge of backing it up and continuing to work on his disposal.
