• NORTH Melbourne chief executive Eugene Arocca is urging club members to "stick fat" and ensure their commitment continues beyond last summer's emotional fight for survival.

The Kangaroos will kick-start their 2009 membership drive today with the message to its members to "Stay Troo".
After rejecting the AFL's relocation package to the Gold Coast last December, North's membership soared from 22,000 to a record 34,000 in 2008.
Its previous record had been 24,624.
But Arocca yesterday urged members not to let those gains slide.

"The response we got last year was largely driven by the emotion of maybe losing the club interstate . . . the Gold Coast issue really saw an amazing response from a lot of people who had been members before and let it lapse," Arocca said.
"For us now, it's about saying 'you've renewed and you did that purely on the back of emotion. Well, now it's about time you rediscovered your passion'.
"The key message is, look what we've achieved in a relatively short period of time and look what we can achieve by sticking fat . . . and capturing that passion."

First of all, how many of said 34k are bona fide memberships and not sympathy purchases??? You'll find out in 2009.

Secondly, if you look closely at that poll you might think that people with user names such as; Hawkers15, phreeze77 and the rest there actually support other teams and not the Saints. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Now I realise that a loss of 8 memberships means your end of season trip moves from Highpoint to Sunshine Plaza, but do try and include relevant information once in a while.

The horriyfying point about St.Kilda non membership renewal isn't so much the few non-saints fans that voted, but those fans that did and started the thread.

Well I bought 50 Junior North Melbourne memberships last year, because I felt sorry for them and because im rich I can afford it so what? I got caught in all the hype and crying and emotion last year - but im a little wiser this year.

Well I won't be in 2009, and especially after I saw Jessica Sinclair crying like a bitch after losing to Sydney in the Elimination Final

North are the biggest sooks, I mean everything from extra men on the field to the cardboard boxes they have to get changed in after swimming in the Yarra after training because the cant afford showers at Arden Street

Poor form that by North, oh and can I say one more thing, Saints do have something to hang their hads on, its their Premiershp, at least they have one
