Well, if it’s to play West Coast, then obviously it’s a lot easier than a trip to Adelaide!

Unfortunately, the Pies didn’t have such luck this year or last, having to make do with only beating Freo in Perth, because they weren’t gifted the advantage of playing the Eagles twice.
We're talking travel. Is the travel to Adelaide and Perth the same?

What are you on about? Owen’s and Windhager weren’t available to other clubs because you matched bids on them.
Any club could have taken them in the first round of the draft if they wanted them or rated them highly enough. Clubs chose not too.

No club could have drafted Andrews or Daicos without putting in a bid first.

A training jog and guaranteed 4 points against the Eagles in Perth has been the easiest gig for some years now … and in any case, as shown on the previous page, the Pies travel just as much as the other Victorian clubs who choose not to sell home games (note the false claims I responded too).

Academies are bullshit tbh, the AFL should be handling all grass roots level development and they should all go into the draft. There is no reason the AFL can't be doing what the clubs have been doing. It has just been an excuse to give clubs in NSW and QLD an advantage.

I understand why supporters of those states want to keep the advantages they have. I'd be in the same position lying to myself if I was a supporter of one of those clubs. We NEED it!

I guess it's how you look at it. You see it as an advantage anyone could do, I see it as balancing an inherent disadvantage and a system is successful after two previous failures by the AFL and individual clubs.

Over the last 10 years Collingwood has travelled the same distance as Essendon? The clubs will travel the exact same distance this season?

Everyone could've picked Owens and Windhager before pick 20 if they wanted but chose not to. Only got yourselves to blame there.
Sounds like the same rules as a northern academy. At least our guys are from QLD v a ridiculous racial thing. Those guys were always going to get drafted lol.

Over the last 10 years - yes, the same number of interstate trips - and in some years the Pies have gone to Perth twice, Essendon only once and some other years the reverse. It varies from year to year (since the Eagles have become cellar dwelling easy beats, the Pies haven’t had the luxury of being drawn against them at Optus), so overall in the last 10 years - the same.

The exact same distance? Really? OK, I think the hard done by Bombers have so far this year travelled 562 metres further than the Pies - I mean, who cares! The fact remains both clubs travel interstate the same number of times - six. Where they travel varies from year to year.

The Pies haven’t had the luxury of collecting an easy 4 points against West Coast in Perth the last 2 years thank to the AFL not drawing them to play twice against lower ranked teams, even when we finished outside the 8 last year (in complete contrast to Carlton’s ridiculously easy draw despite being finalists). Essendon have been more fortunate. Just wait for West Coast to become good again - and then the Pies will be sent over their again, in addition to Freo, just like in the past. But for now, it’s a clear disadvantage not to play West Coast twice.

Saints apparently hard done by but WCE, at the bottom of the ladder, will have had their start of 2nd round pick at 30+ 3 drafts in a row.

Will be justice if we end up with pick 2 for OAllen.
Both can be true. West Coast really should have made a bigger stink about that draft where they only had 1 pick in the top 30 after finishing last due to the academy and father son garbage, that was ridiculous.

Don't disagree and I'm not saying that your prez is doing the wrong thing, he's doing what's right by his club.

Just hate the media narrative, is all.

Which years in the last 10 years have Collingwood done the Perth trip twice?

How many interstate trips have the clubs made in the past 10 years?

Can you explain how a an extra trip to Perth is only 562 metres further than a trip to Western Sydney?

go back through the drafts and look at how many players use to be drafted from QLD or do you not care and just want it to be the VFL and then have the go home factor on top of that

As I said, there isn't anything clubs are doing with academies that the AFL couldn't be doing instead and have that talent go into the general pool. Then if a club from NSW or QLD wants a local, they can acquire a pick in the range of the player to take them or trade for them, what is generally done.

No they’re not. We need draft capital in equal or more value, same as NGA which top 40 NGA players were added to since last year.
hahaha are you serious? equal or more to get the Ashcrofts, Marshall and your kid this year, you paid equal value????

You paid cents in the dollar
