Pardon the intrusion.
I was thinking Farrell might become your main distributor from the backline, but I haven't seen many mentions.
Should I look elsewhere for Supercoach?
Again, apologies for popping into your board

I think Houstons rebounding role will be shared between Farrell & Evans & maybe Findlayson.

I don't want to go full Marty Sheargold here...but...Eleni Glouftis is not an AFL standard umpire

She seems to give the opposition teams the benefit of any doubt whenever we play. To put it gently.

She's not the same level of evil as Nosferatu Nicholls, but you get the feeling she's not a fan of Port.

I noticed some improvements in coaching and game plan too.

We appeared to be more efficient up forward. We still conceded far too many inside fifties despite our possession dominance but our makeshift defence held up pretty well.

I’m scratching my head as to why Finlayson hasn’t been tried in defence in all his time here before.

At his best he played some great games for us as a forward but I definitely think his future with us is as a backman or it's over.

I dunno, she definitely paid a couple of howlers our way (including our first goal). I get being the only female she's alot more noticeable (which is a bad thing for any umpire) but if you were to go through all the indisputable bad decisions yesterday, she would be responsible for the majority of them, and it isn't a one off.

Sinn had a number of good defensive efforts in this game with excellent closing speed and competing aerially. Hopefully he continues to build into the season from here as there is a role there if he wants it.

He moved much better than last week where he looked like he was glued to a spot.

I didn’t think Boak or Mead were that bad. Unlike against the crows where we had a heap of passengers, most had a contribution.

If I was to be picky I would say I didn’t notice Lorenz much but this might have something to do with his game time minutes.

And I disagree that there is nothing between Soldo and Sweet. Sweet is way out in front at this stage, but it was also Soldo’s first game back after a long time off.

Just need Wines to give the first option, maybe Ken is going back to 2014 run and gun.

We still looked a bit clumsy and crowded going forward.

Agree with Wines and first option and as for Ken going back to 'run n gun' it looks like he's continuing on from last year

doing sweet f'ck all on gameday. The clumsy crowded fwd zone is not helped with the stop start play up field and the

dinky kicks. Look at the neighbours it's go go go to a mostly open fwd zone.

Sure St Kilda were weakened and ordinary but it was good to see some new faces and more play on.

We had a good run early, although we weren't paid anything that wasn't there. Just paid the ones we usually don't get.

But she stood out for me later in the game when St Kilda started getting the rub of the green.

I really rated Trent. Injury killed his career.

I still remember the description of his ACL condition by the operating surgeon. It looked like two mop heads were pretty much his words.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right. If she is getting picked because there are no other better male or female umpires then that is damning on the quality of umpiring stocks. If she is getting selected to promote more females to take up umpiring then that is damning on the league that they prioritise social agendas above performance.

Does it make me a mentally ill wokey if I don’t think underwood is THAT bad?
I agree. I've said before that I don’t think the problem is what she actually says in her commentary, it’s just unfortunate that her voice can be very harsh to listen to.

Agree but I think we need to give him time to grow into the role. He will need to be far more accountable than his previous forward role & it will take time for him to adapt. For the sake of our defense I hope he can.
Certainly willing to give him a chance.. but past history says he will play one good game in 4 and his 3 bad ones include poor body language coupled with his lack of competitive spirit.

She’s just not up to it..

Makes panicked decisions.. that 50m penalty might be the worse ever given

It was actually nice to see us concede a bit of ground to spread their defenders and find space. So used to seeing us constantly launch the ball into an impossibly crowded 50. Who knows if we can execute it against a good side
