Strategy STAND rule

if that is not a 50 then how come no carry on on the one V soldo in the Carlton game Round. Oh that's right, only an issue when it is Richmond on the receiving end of one
I agree if a player feigns a handball it should be play on. The umps aren't paying that so it's the same rule for all. Its an utter bullshit rule. The player on the mark is basically useless, all defensive play taken away.

They keep moving when broad has marks too.

Might be the most stupid rule in sport history.

Dam you Trent cotchin

Seen a number of players pretend they are going to handball to draw a fifty this year happened to Richmond players in games this year its only going to get worse get rid of the dumb stand rule doing nothing for the game.
Tumbleweeds by the media then we get a few 50s and they have erected their protest shoeboxes.

They're not allowed to criticise the umps if they want to remain part of the AFL boys clubs, although to be fair this isn't an umpire issue its the AFL and the idiots from Geelol that they keep employing to try and stop Richmond dominating the Cats at the pointy end of the season.

What about Montagna on First Crack last night saying the Prestia 50 should've been called play on because he faked the handball :drunk:
Agree, WTF. That's been my favorite footy show because it had the least agenda driven drivel other shows have, I hope that show too doesn't become a piece of shit footy program as well. I dont like the new set either.

OMFG... I think I just did a rant about a footy show … :drunk: :drunk: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

GF 22.
Cats lead by 5pts with 10 secs left.
Chris Scott high 5ing Steve Hocking.
Dusty marks in the middle with Dangerfield on the mark.
Dusty feigns the handball.Dangerfield moves.
50!

What if you are legitimately going to handball but the option gets closed down? It should only be play on if you move off the mark, as it's always been.

It's a shit look trying to con the man on the mark into moving early but that is a direct consequence of the AFL bringing in this shit truck of a rule to begin with. 50m penalty and a goal against for taking a single step step sideways instead of standing still like a statue....that ain't football. I hate it.

Its play on if you physically move your feet off the line of the mark. It has nothing to do with feigning a handball or anything else. It was not play on when Prestia did it as his feet did not move off the line.

Still a stupid rule and I hate it

Its not play on unless the ump calls it play on, we have the worst rules of any sporting comp I can think of.

You know what, **** these guys. The AFL brings in a shit rule, that's on them. If all teams have worked out a way to exploit it and make them look foolish in the process, then i reckon that's a great thing. The quicker it will be removed. Now that Richmond is getting a benefit from the rule, watch the interpretation get "reviewed".

I watched the netball and that’s what it reminds me of, but then Gilligan and his pedo brother love it

Biggest problem is a player can fake a play on or actually play on and before the ump can call play on, the man on the mark reacts and gets 50 against, happened twice in the Rich v Dogs game once for each team, why do the AFL feel the need to change the rules every year without any testing

Gills legacy will be the ruination of our great game.
Gill's shitty legacy will live on after he is gone as he will be replaced by someone who is a thicker, bigger dicklicker than him.
(Benny is no chance for the job).

But the AFL listens to us fans.

This rule will be gone at the end of the year if the game is run by intelligent people with integrity but sadly I dare say it will remain.
If it does stay i reckon I'm done because it's hard enough watching this over officiated game as is.
Don't know whether you bother watching Classified but they were doing a 'game is great, never been better, scoring is back, everyone thank their lucky stars' segment last week so clearly AFL House have told all the sycophants out there to spread the message to try and turn public opinion given the ridiculousness of the rule.

Get smashed after marking, no fifty. Move half a step because someone is faking a handball, fifty. Get frustrated about poor implementation or inconsistent decision making of an umpire, fifty.

I hate to make this a general dig at the umpiring but, it's honestly pathetic. The whole 'we have to protect the umpires from criticism because of what happens at grass roots level' would be made much easier if we just let them have a consistent go with one set of rules instead of changing things every year. Look, if a bloke is giving them a spray then fair enough pay 100m for all I care, but the adjudication of the protected zone and the stand rule are absolute blights on the game.

Umpires literally give goals away to teams now because players are in the wrong position or in some instances just can't hear their instruction over the crowd and it happens every week. Let the bloody blokes play football and only pay the obvious ones that are there and the game will be in better condition. Better yet put the whistle away and start paying fewer feigned high free kicks, paying the multitude of throws I see each week and we'll sort flow of game out.

The scoring will sort itself out as coaches come with different strategies. People thought Sydney had killed football in 2004 and Franklin comes out and boots 100 in 2008. Its just confected rubbish and it ruins the game for supporters.

The stand rule just causes so many problems. And as teams have worked it out, it gets worse.

But he AFL never have to say, I was wrong'. So we get this garbage. Let the Tigers win this year and use to rules to our advantage and we'll see what happens next. Although the Geelong CEO isn't in charge any more. The brother of Geelong's coach is. So much better.

Pretty straight forward that one
It's not play on unless you move off the line of the mark (or take to long)
The player on the mark should also not be moving until the umpire calls play on, not for when the player actually goes to move off the line

I hate the stand rule, but no point arguing to make it even more complicated

Didn't the Carlton player do the same to us? Nothing was said about that. But as aoonas qe do it its an uproar. Sick of the uproar and bias against us.
